The Caribbean coast of Columbia.

We spent a night in Taganga, not much to recommend it other than a handful of mediocre restaurants and diving operations. It was however a prime sunset spot and the Margeritta was passable!

The next morning I went snorkelling on the edge of the National park which was fun and we saw plenty of colourful fish, eel and coral, most of which was quite bleached. But it was great to get in the clear water.
We then headed 5 miles down the road to Santa Marta. A vibrant town with a nice promenade and marina on the front.

Another good sunset preceded our farewell dinner with the group.

In the morning we all headed off in our different directions, which for us was to a resort 5 miles down the coast for a bit of R&R before we head South for the next leg of our adventure .

Some things we have learnt on this trip and Columbia and Columbians.

They are generally really friendly and happy that we are visiting

It generally feels very safe.

They don’t speak much English.

They are loud and like loud Columbian and rap music

They don’t have bedside lamps in three star hotels

They eat huge portions of food and a lot of meat

The food is not spicey

The roads are good

The Wi-Fi and mobile signal is good.

People are curvaceous and like wearing thongs

They love dogs and cats and treat them well.

They don’t all take cocaine.

It very humid at the Caribbean coast.

The toilets are clean but you usually have to pay for public ones.
