Hello pinmapplers!

This time on a cold day, we traveled to the north of Italy, in the Veneto region we found a small city between mountains, but not too far from Padua or Venice. This is Cittadella, a small town with a medieval air decorated through which history runs through its streets, its walls and its fantastic medieval wall that surrounds it, which once protected the area and today serves for its inhabitants to enjoy every time they pass and those of us who visit Cittadella admire it.

Because as soon as we arrive, we cross old stone bridges, and we realize that the wall has its own entrance, in fact there are four, each one at one of the cardinal points. Also here we have the clock and we see that in its time there was much more decoration. But not all of it has disappeared, from this wall nor from other walls and facades.

But suddenly the vision of the place changes and it is no longer just stone, but everything is green despite the gray and cold day, because charming gardens surprise us as we go through different streets and paths. We wander with pleasure, because everything seems placid.

And we went ahead and we began to feel the crowd, the Christmas decorations of this more modern era are already in place, and we wait for them to be turned on at night, but this is a very fast trip, perhaps too fast, but other corners had to be explored more from the region as well. That's the problem, there are too many beautiful and interesting places in that whole area.

But arriving at the cathedral, we see that there is a lot of life, and that there is also an open-air market where typical local products were sold, in short, the best. We discover more buildings such as the "municipio ("municipality") but also small details like the Lion of Venice, which is always in a column and we can find it in all the cities that belonged to the powerful Republic of Venice, many centuries ago.

And more details also on the walls: niches with statues of the Virgin, more painted decorations and even some verses from the famous Italian writer, the most universal of all, Dante.

We not only look ahead but also up towards those walls that remind us that they have been there for a long time, that those stones collect a lot of history from a place that we may not have much knowledge about but where life has been living for centuries.

And for a long time its people walked those same streets and passed under those semicircular or pointed arches made of reddish-brown bricks that remain impassive to the different rhythms of the small city.

We move away from the center, which is increasingly crowded with people waiting for it to get dark and turn on those modern lights that will reflect on the old stone, while we walk parallel to the canals, under the soft sound of moving water, delighting ourselves again of those decorated facades and more nice gardens, trees and other panoramic views of Cittadella, this special and old fortified Italian city.

Thanks so much for reading! Have a fantastic and interesting day!
