Greetings, human walkers, how are you...

This week I had the opportunity to learn a little more about my department called Antioquia; it is located in the country of Colombia.
For those who don't know, I live in MedellĂn, and this time we traveled to the municipality of Envigado to find a beautiful place hidden in the mountains.
This place is known as El Salado and is characterized by the natural pools where many people come to bathe in the river on Sundays and when Monday is a public holiday.

We had already visited part of this site a few months ago, but we were not physically prepared for the demands of the mountains; so this time we made a three-hour hike with a bit better physical condition to reach this magical place.

The walk is challenging, and we were always bordering the river (it is called Quebrada La Ayura), but what I did not anticipate was that it would become increasingly difficult. In fact, there came a point where we decided to turn back because we didn't know the way, and it was just trees (we felt lost); but then two angels appeared: a pair of expert hikers, they even had poles similar to those of skiers and a super-equipped backpack. They gave us directions on how to reach our goal and invited us to continue with them to a certain point.

What I didn't count on was that they climbed a lot through that forest, and I was the last one, pretending it was to take care of the group, but the reality was that I was already exhausted (we had been walking uphill for about 2 hours), and I had to pace myself. The good thing was that I made it and reached a flat area where they gave us fruit to eat and peanuts, very kind of them. From there, they gave us the final directions, and we started to descend the mountain.

The waterfall is hidden; we heard it among the trees and decided to follow its sound. When we got there, the power of nature showed us that we will never be above it. But this waterfall was just for us that day, it is magical; it seems to be built since its fall looks like it has a slide.
The water is cold, but it helped me recover my legs, the sound is beautiful, and we decided to take a bath that froze our bones, hehe...
There we ate something we had in the small backpack we carried (snacks, sweets, and some chips) and refilled our thermos with water.
Here are some photos of this wonder:

As we were descending, we admired the landscape and I found this bird that posed for my camera lens. Something I didn't like was that in the distance, we heard shotgun shots; I suppose there were people practicing this activity that I don't like because it harms the animal ecosystem of the area.
The terrain is not easy either up or down; there are good parts, but more complex parts to travel through. It is a landscape wherever you look.

I really loved this adventure; many times we miss out on such wonderful places out of laziness or because we don't have money, but our investment was 1 dollar (with which I bought a beer at the end of the hike at a small kiosk).

Thank you very much for reading about my adventure, reminding you to learn something new, travel, exercise, and most importantly, seek YOUR HAPPINESS.

BLESSINGS, REMEMBER THAT TRAVELING WILL ALWAYS GIVE YOU A STORY TO TELL.
