We wanted to do something together for a few hours while the kids are with grandma and grandpa. For us great and for them even more great to have full time playing board games. So we did what we wanted to do last year when we hadn’t the time, which was visiting the winery near from a wine we know from dining here. So we went to see the winery in the mountains and taste some wine.
Up in the mountains
The drive up there was super beautiful. The green wine fields and the olive trees, its so tranquilly and so nice to drive through that we enjoyed ourselves, from minute one. You can hear crickets everywhere.

Azienda Agricola e Cantina FRANZOSI
The winery is in Puegnago del Garda, in Brescia. About 15 minute drive up into the mountains. The drive up there gave us so any views over the lake, I made a lot of pictures. The estate we are going to is open and the fence is gorgeous. The fence has wine leaves and you feel that you arrived in the right place. The winery is 73 year old in the region Valtenesi where the villages are. Founded by Giovanni Franzosi in 1938. Now the next generations are working to deliver these great wines, in the region and in the rest of Italy. The passion is felt when we drive up mount Aullo.

In this cantina and azienda they make olive oil, limoncello, soap and high quality wines, for every wallet. I have to say that we love family businesses. The winery is now in charge of the grandchildren. All have a part in the business and together they make this also an international company. I have to go and see if their wine is available in the Netherlands aswell. Here are a few pictures of all the different products available.
The fun thing is we saw, Mr. Giovanni when we left the wine estate. He was doing his daily walk through the yard and I asked if I could take his picture, and he said “certo” which meant ofcourse! So I did . More up close and personal could it not have been. My husband laughed and said I was the only one getting away with it, with just a smile.

The brochure I got says : At every stage of the production there is passion, care and dedication involved. Well that is visible everywhere. When we entered the winery we first saw the cases that were in stock. Huge pallets with bottles.
We tasted 5 wines, the actual tasting I forgot to take pictures because my bag was under the table. The lady that helped us and three others in the group told us everything about the proces and the wine they offer. The fact that you can be at the place where the grape turns into the wine you normally have at the dinner table at a restaurant or at home is so nice. The passion for wine is more my husbands thing than it is mine I don’t drink much as I am always the designated driver. That is how it’s always been when we go out to dinner or a party. I also don’t need a lot to get drunk so I am always careful with alcohol.
So the tasting is great as it is always a little sip and you have to stay sober because ofcourse they want you to buy wine after. Which we did ! We loved seeing all the product and hearing the how , why and how many they sell. The wines they have all have prizes and the certificates are all on the wall to see.
I was also surprised about the bathroom products than again it’s great to use olive oil and the smell is amazing. I love the fact that all is made with a concept and dedication to make new things and sell as much as they can.

When visiting lake Garda do this tasting tour as a gift to yourself
When travelling around Italy its possible you come by a wine house you never herad about. Its always great to taste new wines, and discover the true beuty of the land through a wine from the area you are in. It will make your holiday, travel or romantic getaway just more special.
The wine can be bought and taken home where you will remember the ground you were tasting the fine wine for the first time. It will be a nice memory. Also wine is good for your health.
