Hello everyone!
A few days ago, I spent a day wandering around Winchester. So many things to see and do from the ancient history to modern day mills and museums dotted around.
I revisited a spot I have flown from before, St Giles Hill as it is a perfect location for maintaining line of sight over the city.
Obligatory ground shot. The walk to the top of Giles Hill is quite steep but well worth the view!
Wide angle shot of the city from 120m above the hill.
At one end of The Broadway is a statue of King Alfred.
A watermill built in the Saxon era, was restored in 2004 and now owned by The National Trust.
Additional wide angle shots focused on the cathedral and the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, a 12th-century palace owned by monks.
I returned later that evening for another flight to see what the city looked like from above in darkness. To my surprise there was quite a lot of light to work with save for Wolvesey Castle.
The statue of King Alfred.
Looking further north west along The Broadway.
Winchester Cathedral.
Winchester Guildhall is an impressive and imposing building.
That's all for now. I had a lot of fun flying under the cover of darkness. When I return in daylight, I may venture further along The Broadway to take a look at more period buildings that remain.
Until the next time!
