Hello photography lovers, today I decided to share with you some shots from an emblematic place in the capital of Bulgaria, namely Lion Bridge
The bridge was built 133 years ago and recently 8 years ago it was repaired.But before its construction, there was another bridge in this place, which was called "the colorful bridge".there the stories and legends are even older.but to be more accurate I will use information from external sources and leave a link to them.
The history of the "Colored Bridge" is associated with the name of the rich Turk from Sofia, Khalil Sali Efendi. Among the shopaholics, he became known as "the goofy Khalil". One harvest happened to be very good and word quickly spread among the shopkeepers that Khalil was buying straw. The villagers began to compete to see who could bring him more. Khalil did not return anyone, but paid everyone honestly, albeit cheaply. When asked why he was so upset, the Turk calmly answered that "time sells straw". The following year, the harvest was not so good, and the villagers again came to Khalil - but this time to buy a carload of straw. And Khalil sold - of course, with a big profit. In order to prove to the shopkeepers that he is not "goofy" at all, he built a bridge. On one side of it was an inscription: "In time I sold, I built a bridge", and on the other he ordered the stonemasons to write on a stone a moral lesson from the Koran: "Where there is no bridge - build a bridge." Where there is no fountain - build a fountain". Fully in the spirit of the Turkish architectural tradition, the bridge was painted with red and yellow lines, hence its name "Colored Bridge".[1] These inscriptions are not preserved today.source information
