My Greece notes
Resort town for rest
After visiting the monument to Tsar Leonid and the place where the Battle of Thermopyle took place, we began to look for a place to sleep.
We wanted to spend the night by the sea and we went to the very shore. We drove into a town called Kamena Vourla. The name is somehow strange, as if from the Czech Republic. At least that seemed to me.
The town is very small and pretty. It turned out to be a resort town. A long main street along the sea with hotels, restaurants and cafes. You can stroll along this street and breathe in the fresh sea air.
Kamena Vourla is one of the most popular and crowded resorts in the region. The possession of the Blue Flag makes this resort especially in demand. In addition, the presence of healing hot springs, excellent infrastructure, beautiful views.
We checked into the hotel. With this came a whole unusual story. Before checking in, we selected a hotel on the booking site and paid for it. When we arrived at the hotel there was no one. Peace and quiet. The door to the hotel was open, but there was no one at the reception. There was silence throughout the house.
On the one hand, this is not surprising. We traveled to Greece in the spring, when beach vacations had not yet gained momentum. There were no tourists in such resort towns and the hotels were empty.
We were already in despair when the sound of an opening door was heard and an old man entered the room. We greeted him and I tried to explain to him that we had booked a room. The old man explained that he did not understand anything in computers and began to call his son, the owner of the hotel.
In the end, everything was fine. We were populated and we went for a walk. The old man - the father of the owner of the hotel, was very kind. He offered to drink Greek brandy. Metaxa. Very nice drink.
After a glass of metaxa, we went for a walk along the sea.
We walked and looked at the beautiful sunset sky and the sun. It was warm but not hot.
We walked along the entire town and ended up at the local fishing port. Nearby were fishing restaurants and the smell was amazing from there.
We went in search of a good place for dinner. It was already dark and lights came on in the street.
And in the morning we woke up and went further along the route to study Greece.
