First visit 

It is said that among the Meteor monasteries, the Holy Trinity Monastery is considered the third oldest. The monastery was built in 1476.

To date, the Holy Trinity Monastery has two temples. This is the central temple and chapel of John the Baptist. Two monks serve in the monastery.

This is the first of the monasteries that I visited. When I looked at the rock from the road, I did not understand how you can climb this peak at all.

It seemed to me that this would take a lot of time - first go down to the foot, then go up. And so it turned out, on a specially equipped path, not very steep, I went down to the beginning of the ascent to the rock.

Then I climbed up a tunnel through a tunnel with stairs.

When you rise, you can see a lot of interesting things. The height of the cliff is 600 meters. From such heights you can see many beautiful landscapes.

At the top we ended up in a monastery.

Everything was simple and ascetic there. The strong wind at the top, the close sun and the view of the valley fully justified the name of this place as hovering above the ground.

A walk in the monastery of the Holy Trinity took us probably about an hour, maybe a little more. When I returned back to the road, which was pretty sweaty, but happy from the fact that I was able to visit this beautiful place, there was a persistent desire to explore all the monasteries in Meteora.

As I understand it, some of them have museums with interesting exhibits.

Walking along these mountains I enjoyed amazing views and sensations. This place is not only a tourist destination, but also a place of pilgrimage for Orthodox people from around the world.
