Yes, you read that right. I will show you a place in Venezuela with the name of another country. Located more than 1,400 meters above sea level, we found a small hamlet with a unique viewpoint to the town of Caripe: El Peru. All images were taken by me.
Sí, leíste bien. Te mostraré un lugar en Venezuela con el nombre de otro país. Situado a más de 1.400 metros sobre el nivel del mar, encontramos un pequeño caserío con un mirador singular al pueblo de Caripe: El Perú. Todas las imágenes fueron tomadas por mí.
Access is by road. The road is paved, very winding and ascending. You cannot develop speed. I admit that it is not easy to distinguish the rapid ascent. Only when you see to the right, you marvel at the views you get of the town of Caripe, understanding how fast you are climbing. It is common for people in the different villages to stare at you as you approach in the vehicle. Of course, they say to themselves: "This car is not from around here". Then you pull out your secret weapon: you look at him too, smile at him and greet him: "Hello!", or "Good morning". And the person always responds to that friendly glare, smiling too and returning the greeting. It always works. But not everyone likes to do it or doesn't know how to do it. That's why I call it a 'secret weapon'.
El acceso es por carretera. La vía está asfaltada, muy serpenteante y ascendente. No puedes desarrollar velocidad. Admito de que no es fácil distinguir el rápido ascenso. Sólo cuando ves a la derecha, te maravilla las vistas que obtienes del pueblo de Caripe, entendiendo lo rápido que estás subiendo. Es común que la gente en los diferentes caseríos te quede viendo al acercarte en el vehículo. Claro, se dicen: "Este carro no es de por aquí". Entonces sacas el arma secreta: lo miras también, le sonries y lo saludas: "¡Hola!", o "Buenos días". Y la persona siempre responde a ése destello amistoso, sonriendo también y correspondiéndote el saludo. Siempre funciona. Pero no a todos le gusta hacerlo o no lo saben. Por eso lo llamo 'un arma secreta'.
After about twenty minutes of ascent, we arrived. The place is a small hamlet, but with a viewpoint to the town. Several years ago there were some stores and there were more visitors. However, the road conditions were discouraging tourists. Although some of the real estate is showing signs of deterioration, these spaces are still used by the local inhabitants.
Luego de unos veinte minutos de ascenso, llegamos. El lugar es un pequeño caserío, pero con un mirador al pueblo. Varios años atrás funcionaban unos comercios y había más visitantes. Sin embargo, las condiciones viales fueron desmotivando a los turistas. Aunque algunos bienes inmuebles se les nota el deterioro, aún son utilizados esos espacios por los habitantes del lugar.
It is a quiet place to enjoy the view, the tranquility, the silence, the peace, the nature? On this occasion the day was very sunny and you can appreciate the view down. It is known that Caripe is located in a valley, that is, in the middle of two series of mountains. Well, this viewpoint is located in one of those mountains and therefore has a privileged view. There we see in the background a sector called San Agustín, in which there is a church very famous for being covered with ivy on the outside.👇
Es un tranquilo sitio para disfrutar de la vista, la tranquilidad, el silencio, la paz, la naturaleza... En ésta oportunidad el día estaba bien soleado y se puede apreciar la vista hacia abajo. Es sabido de que Caripe está situado en un valle, es decir, en el medio de dos serie de montañas. Bueno, éste mirador está ubicado en uno de esas montañas y por eso posee una privilegiada vista. Allí vemos al fondo un sector llamado San Agustín, en la cual está una iglesia muy famosa por estar cubierta de una hiedra por fuera.👇
👆 There you can see the Tourist Viewpoint of Caripe. From that place you can better appreciate the town. But you can see that it is at a lower point than where we are, the viewpoint of El Perú. We are higher. That is why it allows us to see other important areas of the zone.
👆 Allí ven el Mirador Turístico de Caripe. Desde ése lugar se puede apreciar mejor el pueblo. Pero puedes ver de que él está en un punto más bajo que donde estamos, el mirador de El Perú. Nosotros estamos más alto. Por eso permite divisar otras áreas importantes de la zona.
But, let's continue talking about the place where we are. We usually go up there for our friends to get to know this different place, which not many people know when they go to Caripe. We have nice memories there, good conversations, family photos. One takes the opportunity to admire the creation, the wonders of this planet, and to value life, both ours and that which surrounds us.
Pero, sigamos hablando del lugar donde estamos. Generalmente subimos para que nuestros amigos conozcan éste lugar diferente, que no muchos conocen al ir a Caripe. Tenemos bonitos recuerdos allí, buenas conversaciones, fotos familiares. Uno aprovecha de admirar la creación, las maravillas de éste planeta, y valorar la vida, tanto la nuestra y la que nos rodea.
The inhabitants of the sector are dedicated to agriculture. You can see the crops on the slopes of the mountains. Simple people, who like to talk, visit each other, take care of you. Generous and grateful by nature. Also, they like to decorate the outside of the houses in a natural way, taking advantage of the variety of plants that can grow in the area, splashing colors on the green canvas provided by the vegetation.
Los habitantes del sector se dedican a la agricultura. Puedes ver los sembradíos en las faldas de las montañas. Gente sencilla, que le gusta conversar, visitarse, atenderte. Generosa y agradecida por naturaleza. También, les gusta adornar los exteriores de las casas de manera natural, aprovechando la variedad de plantas que pueden crecer en la zona, salpicando de colores el lienzo verde que aporta la vegetación.
