Walk to our local street; Faulty roads: Abandoned government projects

November 2019 · 3 min read

Have you ever come across an old faulty road? Or an abandoned road?
How does it always look like?
What are the signs and symptoms of such places?
Can you name what is usually common around such places?
Even if you didn't always take note. But looking at this now, sight out something here and try comparing it with what you usually see on an old faulty road in your area

on my way to this abandoned and faulty looking road? I sighted this pole that has lots of connecting wires on it, cutting across all the roofs on that street. I stood and wondered. This is what we call "TRANSFORMER" its a source of power supply to household appliances. if you look inside, it has three big cables with fuses on it. this is what actually makes your bulbs light up and other electrical appliances.

The transformer is fenced round and some kind of holes are left on the fence, which I don't exactly know why. I guess I have noticed such in all the fenced transformer around.

Don't forget what took us here; its the old faulty road. This road may be as a result of abandoned government project. drainage and flood has caused the road to look that way with pot holes all over, leaving dirty, stagnant water in all the available pot holes.

This isn't exactly right because this faulty road now can cause serious damages to people's cars and even beverages that is carried along such roads.

I took some shot while going round the street, taking notes of what is happening in such area. How the people there cope, how well their businesses moves.

that's just some kind of faulty road, I wouldn't dare to mention the filled up gutters, where there is no easy passage of water or flow of water anymore. As a result of this, rain water or dirty stagnant water flows from the gutter unto the road and into people's compounds most times. A gradual occurrence of this keeps eating and cutting of the coal tar causing serious damage to road thereby leaving behind pot holes and other damages.

Other observations I made is that, houses are closed; way too close to the road. This isn't accident-safe. Both manually and domestically. It is not safe
Houses are not supposed to be outlined closed to the main road.

Businesses seems to be slow in such an area. Cause of how bad and faulty the road is, the poor looking areas took me hours to observed and come up with an hypothesis.

Something could actually be done about this area, to help the people living and resitting there.
Government should help reconstruct and restructure these faulty roads.

I learnt good roads is included in every government project in Nigeria. So they can really do something about this old looking and abandoned road.

The trip to local towns and street was educating and rewarding. I made observations and draw conclusions.
