For some reason, the city of Alanya for the second time attracted us during a tour to Turkey. However, if thirteen years ago we stayed in a hotel in the city, last year it was a small village of Kunakli, from which to Alanya half an hour by bus.
About how to get to the fortress on a hill, which is located on the beach, we had an idea back then, long ago. However, it did not work and now, remembering his past intention, we decided to find out how to do it this time.
Over the years, the city has grown significantly and transformed. There was not only more tourist hotels, but also the population of the city has grown significantly. People in Alanya are surprisingly friendly. And when they learn that we are from Russia, for some reason become talkative and always try to tell the route.
There are several ways to get to the fortress. If you have enough free time and you got up early in the morning, you can walk there. the rise may seem difficult only to people of age or young children, but the three of us would be able to climb the mountain, if not for the inconvenience over time. Until you get out Konakly, then from the station to reach the foot of the fortress, it will take half a day. But then there is a long climb, a review of the beauty and then another descent.
We chose the route by bus, and as an alternative, there is a way to get to the fortress gate by taxi or by rented transport.
At the station where the bus takes us, we need to wait and transfer to local transport. The route is not frequent, so you can wander through the local market and buy something. Finally, the bus came and we go to the end point of our journey.
The fortress of Alanya, which stands on a hill by the sea, built in the XIII century by the Turkish Sultan Ala ad-DIN Kay-Kubad I. in those days, he conquered the Byzantine city of Kalonoros, and to gain a foothold on the local lands, strengthened the fortifications built here, giving them a modern look of a formidable, impregnable fortress. Later the city was renamed in honor of Ala al-DIN and named Alaye, which later became familiar to us Alania.
The entrance to the fortress is only 15 Turkish liras for adults. Our ten-year-old daughter, the good Turks missed for free. We pass on the observation deck and look at the view of the city from a height. What a beauty! From here you can see the local beach "Cleopatra".
Today, the inside of the fortress is not as interesting as the outside. Everywhere only the destroyed walls and the remains of a small mosque. Everywhere the stairs and walkways of cobblestones. Lots of pine needles from Bouncing on them squirrels and birds. People come up here more to see the city. For those who want there are special telescope to increase the view.
With us it was not so crowded, because we got to the fortress late in the afternoon. It was time to go down and do it we decided to walk. Why waste the opportunity to look at the neighborhood calmly and without haste.
No adventure on the way down was not. There are few signs and you can get lost if you get off the route. However, we did not manage to get completely lost, because we met companies of young guys and girls who chose to walk down our example.
There's a lot to see here. Beautiful houses of private buildings, friendly locals, who are not the first to suggest the way down to the city. We met even a huge turtle who tried to get away from us.
Even here is full of trees and beautiful flowers. Beautiful paths lead down the hill. The views around are such that you can shoot entire movies about medieval knights and battles at the walls of the fortress.
Still, we were a little late until it was dark. It is good that the slopes of the hill are well equipped for pedestrians, and that would just fall down. When we finally got to the road, it was almost dark. Over the port, colorful lights lit up and they well lit our way. When we went to the city, where there was excitement, only then we quietly sighed and went to the bus station.
