Hi friends! If you think I told you about all my hiking, then you are mistaken. Today I want to share with you my memories of a summer hike in 2017 where I went with my friends. Then we decided to lay our trekking route through the Gorgani mountain range, which is part of the Ukrainian Carpathians. To be precise, we did not visit all the peaks of Gorgany, only climbed two mountains - Khomyak and Synyak, but let's get everything in order.
The first step of our hike was the ascent to the polonyna (mountain plain) Khomyak . Given that our hike was in the middle of the summer, the day of the climb seemed very hot. Despite the fact that the climb itself took place mainly in the woods, under the tree canopy, we were all very tired, our t-shirts were completely wet with sweat already in the middle of the climb. I will not fail to say that the ascent of the mountain valley was more difficult than the future two ascents of the mountain Khomyak and Synyak.
But, as is always the case, when we went upstairs and had our first serious rest, we felt proud that we were able to overcome this path and we proved to be worthy.
When we rested a bit, we were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery around. What is known as alpine meadows abroad is traditionally called polonynas in Ukrain - mountain pastures. Cows with cute rattles on their necks graze here. The interest of tourists is concentrated to the huts, where shepherds live in the spring and throughout the summer, changing each other. They feed cows and sheep, make cheese, brynza. We also met a herd of cows on our way and took some pictures.
There are many tents in the meadow, as it is a great place to stay and spend the night. You can complete your itinerary in the valley, but we move on. Our goal today is the summit of Mount Synyak.
