Following the contest organised by @friendlymoose #POBPhotoContest, I decided to take part with an aerial photo of the island of Formentera.
The image is taken with a drone and aside from the fact that the photographic work seems to me to be quite good, what makes it different is the whole process of preparing the session. The entire coastline of Formentera is a Special Protection Area for Birds, so you must apply for permission to fly over the water. This permit must be requested one month in advance and if you know the regulations and have the appropriate qualifications, you will be granted it for six months if the time of year does not coincide with the breeding of birds. In the end, everything was in order for the chosen day, which fortunately dawned completely clear.
Another question was the time of day, which in this case had to be early in the morning, just after sunrise, when the light is clearest and cleanest. To get to the island from neighbouring Ibiza where I am, you need to take a ferry which takes 30 minutes and the first ferry in the morning is at 7am, so I had to hurry to reach the chosen spot 17km from the port, La Mola Lighthouse, as soon as possible.
In the end the whole process ended with some shots of La Mola Lighthouse which will be used to illustrate an island guide to be published next summer.

Siguiendo el concurso que organiza @friendlymoose #POBPhotoContest, me he decidido a tomar parte con una foto aérea de las isla de Formentera.
La imagen está realizada con un drone y a parte de que el trabajo a nivel fotográfico me parece que está bastante bien, lo que la hace diferente es todo el proceso de preparación de la sesión. Todo el litoral de Formentera es Zona Especial de Protección de Aves, por lo que se debe solicitar permiso para volar sobre el agua. Este permiso se debe solicitar con un mes de antelación y si conoces la normativa y tienes la titulación adecuada, te lo conceden para seis meses si la época del año no coincide con la cría de las aves. Al final, todo en regla para el día elegido, que por suerte amaneció completamente despejado.
Otra cuestión era la hora del día, que en este caso debía ser a primera hora de la mañana, justo después de la salida del sol, cuando la luz es más clara y limpia. Para llegar a la isla desde la vecina Ibiza donde estoy, se necesita tomar un ferry que tarda 30' y el primero de la mañana es a las 7am, con lo que debía darme prisa para alcanzar el punto elegido a 17km. del puerto, el Faro de La Mola, lo antes posible.
Al final todo el proceso finalizó con una tomas del Faro de La Mola que servirán para ilustrar una guía de isla que se publicará el próximo verano.
