On December 1, 2023, they opened EmSphere, a new shopping mall next to famous EmQuartier. These two malls together make Phrom Phong district a top destination in Bangkok 🇹🇭 I had a walk there on December 17, 2023; hurrying to share what I have discovered there.

But let's start with my image I found in a Lonely Planet guide book while visiting Asia Books store at EmSphere.

The World, a Traveller's Guide to the Planet, the chapter Vietnam:

The busy city on the right is my photograph. 🤠 Thanks to Lonely Planet, they always mention the author next to every image 😎

And now let me tell the story of the walk chronologically: I woke up, cleaned the teeth, and stepped out into the street... 😁 A bus ride took around one hour, I got off at Phrom Phong BTS.

Phrom Phong is a district where many wealthy foreigners stay. The share of foreigners on the streets there is at least 25% (just my impression). Some of them are rich expats and other are travelers with much money to splurge in a short period of vacation time. Farangs, Indians, Middle Easterners, Chinese, Koreans, etc. So, of course, shops do their best to impress all those visitors. Stores' interiors are mesmerizing.

The interior of Kilian Paris store looks luxurious and theatrical.

Van Cleef & Arpels' shelf with perfume is minimalist and full of light.

Tiny sparkling bags circling the baggage carousel like if that store was an airport for glamour fairies.

The Erb store dazzles with the green.

Fluffy Blink by Eyelab makes you think about sci-fi. That fur or algae gives a surrealistic feeling.

Yeah, interiors at EmSphere is a wonder!

Traveling by escalators and elevators from a floor to a floor, taking images of strangers.

These are views from those wide wall-height windows:

Amazing Bangkok downtown.

Top floors are still under construction:

Farang kids playing football, Thai security guys asking them to leave - unsuccessfully. Need a help of a farang (me!). I found right words - the stubborn children quickly left. 🤠 Honestly, this incredibly flattered me. 🙂

Art is also part of the experience at premium shopping malls like EmSphere.

A sweet image, quite worrying at the second level of perception.

More orange spots:

Children playing basketball at a sportswear store.

The shopping mall explorers in person. Taking images and trying on anything that looks curious.

Walking towards nearby Emquartier Shopping Mall and finding a Christmas tree by Chanel.

Chanel employees, wearing heavenly garbs:

We had visited Emquartier many times, and the time was a bit late so we decided to end the walk, and headed to a bus stop.

The conclusion is simple: a new shopping mall (together with old EmQuartier and a park) makes Phrom Phong district is tempting to me from the point of photography, considering it's only 1 hour on bus from a suburb I live. I will come back!

More images and stories from Southeast Asia are ahead! Check out the previous ones on my personal Pinmapple map.

I took the images with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G on Nikon D750 on December 17, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
