Hey there my Steemit friends! Here we have another round of three Travel Pro Items you need to be Travel Pro! This series highlights the things I travel with. These are basically everything I own, so each one is well thought out and very important; important enough to carry all over the world! Now let's see what's needed!
Cutting Board
This is my well worn light weight cutting board I travel with. This is one of the most important things I own believe it or not. It keeps the very most important thing I own safe; that being my laptop. What? That's right it's my lap-top protector and much more.
When I have everything packed into my backpack I keep my laptop pressed up against my back, but I put this hard plastic cutting board between my back and the laptop. This way if I lean forward I don't put pressure against the laptop in a direct spot.
Before I began using this I almost broke my old laptop screen on more than one occasion pressing my spine into the middle of the laptop. With the board it's totally protected and any squeezing going on inside my bag goes into the board and evenly disperses the pressure along the laptop.
Imagine closing your laptop then pushing your thumbs hard into the center; not a good idea. So this "Traver Pro Item" solves this problem, weighs almost nothing, nor takes up hardly any space.
Besides that, I often use this board as a surface to put my laptop on when using it. If the only convenient surface for my laptop is a table cloth or some other type of fabric I always put this board underneath.
The fastest way to ruin your computer is to use it on fabric surfaces, having the internal vents and cooling fan suffocate while sucking up lint and dust into your PC. So using your laptop on a hard surface is essential......did I mention it also doubles as a cutting board!
Talco
The is another absolutely essential travel pro item, talcum powder. I hardly ever use it, but when I need it it's a life saver and I'm so happy I have it on hand. This powder will keep odor out of your shoes, absorb moisture, and help them dry out and prevent them from getting stinky when they get wet.
Fortunately I don't have an issue with sweaty feet or athletes foot but every now and then I get caught in the rain. This happened years ago and I got this odor in my shoes that I couldn't get rid of for the life of me. Now I travel with Talco powder and if my shoes ever get wet I immediately un-lace them and rub this powder into them and the next day they are often as good as new.
Actually just a couple weeks ago while in Buenos Aires I got caught in the rain. My shoes were wet and I sure was happy I had my Talco! I actually bought this in Ecuador several years ago for just a couple dollars; another inexpensive yet highly valued "Travel Pro Item".
Spoon and Chopsticks!
You never know when you will be eating something on the go, in your hotel, on the street and wish you had some sort of utensil to help you out with your meal. Since most countries you can't bring a fork on a plane let alone a butter knife; A few pairs of throw-away chop-sticks and a spoon does the trick.
Unfortunately these chop sticks are one and done. I got them while I was in Thailand about 6 month's ago and I have now used them up. I'm thinking some quality plastic chop-sticks that can be washed may be the way to go.
That will about do it for this latest round of "Items You Need to be Travel Pro". Until Next Time, Dan "World Travel Pro"
