Hey there my Steemit Friends! In this Travel Pro Series we focus on significant structures, buildings, and general architecture of a given area. Everywhere in the world is different from the way people look and speak, to the food they eat, to customs, traditions, all the way down to the buildings they live in. My favorite thing to do is simply walk around and take in the environment of each place I visit. So this series gives you an idea of what that may be like and how influential these structures really are.

Recently I have discovered that Phu Quoc Island is one of my least favorite islands in this part of the world. You can read some of my other posts about this place to learn more about why, but regarding architecture it pretty much sucks too. It's a communist country, most of the population is atheist, they have been ruled by the French and had been at war with America in recent history; hence, sad to say, they really do not have much of a culture to call there own compared to neighboring countries.

The architecture is divided up into several different types for the most part. The most commonly seen structures on the island are basically open air buildings made with cheap aluminum siding which are quite boring and ugly. They have a very cold, industrial look.

Another kind of structure that you can find in the lesser developed parts of the island are shanty little chicken shack looking things, they look pretty sad and are in bad shape. However, you can find the occasional nice western style home or building from time to time.

Finally you can find big western style resorts trying to copy either Italian or French design. One entire part of the east coast of the island is under construction and it's being built as a replica of Paris. That was pretty interesting to see and you will be able to see it all below in this three part series. Now come along and lets have a look at the architecture on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam!
