Last time we have talked about this amazing farmland hidden in Ollantaytambo, Cusco, Peru and how we found out about the place. It's GREAT find! But it's not just the cute animals. Alpacas, especially. Not just the vegetables and flower garden. There are gems inside the gem itself!

Carlos says 'Hi'! Yes, his name is Carlos :)

Torrefacción Mayu (Mayu Coffee Roastery) at El Albergue Farm, Ollantaytambo

From the sign outside the farm, some kind of coffee-related place. My Spanish is not that good nor is my English so, it's all a guessing game. Maybe a coffee shop just to sit and chill a bit after 20 mins walk from the Ollantaytambo main square..

Asking around and turned out, there's no coffee shop but more like a coffee roastery! Mayu Coffee Roastery at El Albergue farm in Ollantaytambo!

There's no cup of coffee for sale but more like a few cups of coffee for tasting then if you love it, you can buy a few packs of coffee beans home for such a great price.

It's quite a process to become that cup you love!

The coolest experience is that staff at Mayu Coffee Roastery showed us the whole process of coffee making since handpicking the raw coffee beans one by one. Weigh them and roast them in a roasting machine. How light or dark roasted it is, no problem, just let her know!

Then when it comes to grinding, she didn't just pour whatever she felt like pouring but she weighed the exact amount and the water temperature was exactly 94 celsius to make us that perfect cup of coffee! The method they use to make coffee is the old-school drip coffee.

While we were waiting for it to drip, all the cups were rinsed with warm water not just to clean them but to prepare the temperature for the coffee. Dang! just like that, the coffee is done and it's time to enjoy. I was asking for light-roasted coffee as that's the way I like it.

We got a few packs of coffee beans and we regretted it!

Light roast coffee is a light brown color and has no oil on the surface of the beans. These coffees typically have crisp acidity, a mellow body, and bright flavors.

Coffee at Mayu Coffee Roastery are one of those not many places I have come across that I actually like the taste of their coffee! It's a bright and mellow taste with a hint of acidity though still keep you feel awake and gives quite a good energy for the afternoon work.

It's S/ 30 ($9) a pack and 4 for S/ 100 ($30). I think that's a pretty good deal for well-processed coffee and it seems like there's some heart put into the products as well that's why it tastes so great. We got 4 packs and a few days after we left, I just regretted not buying more.

There is also other coffee-related stuff for sale at Mayu Coffee Roastery like coffee hand-grinder. Now that I think about it, I think I regret not buying that too. I have a hard time finding a place to stay that actually has a coffee grinder equipped.

Cool looking coffee mugs and a few types of home coffee makers also sold here!

Wait, why didn't I ask for the ground coffee if it's that hard to find coffee grinder at accommodation why traveling? I did but they didn't have any. They say all the coffee lose the its aroma and pretty much all its charm when ground and not brewed right away. Ahem! That kinda makes sense.

Love it here! I'm not a big coffee drinker (or am I?) though I love it so much here and I learned a lot during the visit. I'm sure those coffee lovers will feel the same way if they ever come across Torrefacción Mayu (Mayu Coffee Roastery) at El Albergue Farm, Ollantaytambo..

Wait, I don't know if I'm crazy but while writing this, I smell some coffee?

Secret not secret!

There's a Mayu Cafe right at Ollantaytambo train station where you can grab a cup of tasty coffee and a delicious treat for the ride to Aguas Calientes if you'd like!
