Last summer, with @nanast and other friends, we were in the area of the municipality of Hisarya, which is located in the central part of Bulgaria.
Besides the village Mutenitsa and the 24-hour marathon that I told you about before months ago, we had another exciting experience during our stay there - namely, the visit to the village of Staro Zhelezare.
It was very exciting for me to go there because I love street art.
I was very happy that my friends agreed to take a trip with our bicycles from the village Mutenitsa to the village Staro Zhelezare and see live the art created there in recent years, which we have only heard about.
Entering the village we still didn't see any graffiti.
We continued cycling looking around from all sides and soon on one of the walls we saw the first drawing.
We continued forward and soon came to a square with a huge pyramid on which were depicted Catherines by Vladimir Dimitrov - the Master.
In the square, the trash cans were full of empty paint packages - apparently someone had painted here recently...
And really soon the drawings were getting more and more.
In front of one of the walls, someone was drying red peppers :)
MoMA Street
We continue through the streets and see more and more paintings and we can't ride a bike anymore. We get off the bikes and want to take pictures, look closely, laugh.
At one of the intersections, we saw local residents who were very happy for us and happily told us how much their village had changed. Although Staro Zelezare used to be unknown, now it has become so busy that almost everyone who passes by wants to stop and take a look.
From them we learn that the people behind the whole idea live in the village and are here at the moment. Even now, a new project was being painted in the center and if we are lucky we might meet them.
We headed to the center of the village. There we were again surrounded by so many drawings.
Again we meet local people with whom we share our admiration and they smile at us and assure us that one day we will not be able to see all the paintings.
We decided to take a short break in the village park and were soon joined by a young man on a bicycle who turned out to be the son of the people behind the project.
We had a pleasant conversation with him and soon met his mother.
We found her in one of the alleys where she was painting on a new wall.
Katarzhina Piryankova is one of the people behind the idea of turning the village into an open art gallery. She, together with her husband Ventsislav Piryankov and visiting Polish students at their invitation paint every year on the houses and buildings in the village.
Katarzyna was happy to meet us and invited us to visit their house.
We gladly accepted the invitation.
She rode a bicycle just like us 😍🚴
We found out from Ventsislav and Katarzyna Piryankowi that they are teachers at the Polish Academy of Fine Arts in the city of Poznan.
In the summer their students visit their house, with whom they paint in the village.
There were also many drawings in their house. Here they have a special terrace with a beautiful view for outdoor painting. They also have special rooms for their visiting students.
Their studio in Staro Zhelezare - painting lessons are held here.
There is also an art shop where anyone can buy a painting or another hand-made art accessory.
It was time to head back. We thanked for the warm welcome and headed back to the village Mutenitsa.
On the way we saw an old abandoned gas station. We stopped to look around.
We passed through the village Panicheri.
Just as the sun was setting we entered the village Mutenitsa.
