Today in the hottest part of the day I took my bike and was cycling with friend to Poda.
Protected Area Poda is one of the most amazing places in Europe. Poda is in the center of Bourgas wetlands, covering the Atanasovsko, Bourgas and Mandrensko lake and part of the sea. On the territory of the protected area with a size of almost 1 sq. Km. have been observed more than 65% of all kinds of birds in Bulgaria.
Poda Lagoon was declared as Protected Site in 1989!
In the Conservation Center yard you can see bird houses and feeders.
Children can see and touch:
Veined rapa whelk - Thirsty sea snake reaching up to 12 cm.
Ark clam - Large and massive clams measuring up to 7.5 cm.
Mediterranean mussel - The most common on the rocky coast clam. Reaches up to 10 cm in length.
Exquisite is the view revealed by the wooden platform on which benches are placed.
One of the main migration routes, known as the Via Pontica, passes over Burgas and Poda Protected Site.
From the roof of the center can be seen flocks of White Storks, hundreds of Great White and Dalmatian Pelicans, Levan Sparrowhawks, Red-footed Falcons, Common and Honney Buzzards, Lesser Spotted Eagles and other European raptors.
It is approaching of the best observation period for migrating birds - spring migration – from the beginning of March to the middle of May.
Poda is a place that once you visit, you want to come back again.
That's why whenever I have the opportunity, I'm going with my bike there.
Thank you for stopping by!
