Our day started late today: That's okay it's Sunday. Before leaving this amazing valley of Bryce Canyon we went again to a scienic viewpoint (8'600 feet in altitude) where we still saw snow at 10 degrees Celcius.
We are big fans of the chipmunks that live here.
As we drove on we kept enjoying the views.
Utah offers so much for outdoor activities and we loved to spot the many different types of homes along the road. Many of them had old, rusty cars in their backyard and we wondered why they keep these (maybe because of shortage of spare parts for their new cars or just a as a collection of their own vehicles ?).
We stopped for visiting some man-made caves. We had fun climbing the rocks but it was a short tour only.
Nevertheless we had to motivate the kids and by reading the nearby signs we got a great idea for a surprise: A visit to the "best friends" animal sanctuary in the united states. This is not a shelter - more an animal paradise for pets that have been through rough times to find a place to recover (they have excellent vet support) and get a second chance. We could not help it but make a visit to the adoption hub. There are a lot of volunteers helping out. It's hearwarming to know that there are so many great people out there looking out for animals who had little luck in their lives. And no: we did not take pictures of the puppies, dogs and cats as we were too busy petting them.
We finally reached Kanab. Our new home for a couple of days is huge and the kids love having lots of space while the grown-ups love the option to cook.
