I didn't plan on going for a walk when we were invited to be a part of our grandson's Formal gathering on the waterfront at Woody Point on the Redcliffe Peninsula in Queensland, Australia, but there were cars EVERYWHERE and we had to go a couple of blocks up the road to park our car.
So, I decided to make this special occasion My Wednesday Walk, which is a weekly challenge organised by @tattoodjay. Here are the details of this challenge if you'd like to join in the fun. Click Here
Woody Point Jetty was a great backdrop for photos just south of the waterfront where most of the crowd was gathered.
The occasion was all about frocks and fragrances, suits and suitors, colour and celebration, family and friends, and photos and more photos. I was amused to see this photographer lean on his wife to balance his camera in the absence of a tripod
Here he is again, but this time I managed to capture a mischievous photo bomber in the bottom left hand corner.
Woody Point proved to be the perfect spot to photograph and to be photographed. There was a palpable air of excitement wafting all around us. It was a heady mixture of feminine perfume and masculine after shave which effectively drowned out the briny smell of the sea.
I passed a black, shiny limo on my way to the waterfront. I had to get a shot of that.
And then, just for fun, I decided to get up close for a rear shot. Woops! I didn't realize Arnie was sitting in the front seat waiting patiently for his bevy of beauties and their escourts. Never mind. I'm sure he'd be glad of the extra advertising though.
At the end of the street, I spied this green classic car which had obviously been booked to transport passengers to their destination after the photo shoot. It looked very familiar to me because I had seen this car at a local car show a couple of weeks ago.
Other cars made an interesting picture parked beside a large, beautifully shaped, Moreton Bay Fig Tree.
Just across the road from the waterfront is the very popular Belvedere Hotel. They specialize in thick, juicy steaks and delicious, fresh seafood.
I zoomed in for a closer look at some fortunate diners.
Apartment blocks are situated near shops and restaurants. Woody Point, as you can see, is a very desirable place to live.
By now, there were very few people strolling along the pier. They were more interested in what was taking place on the foreshore.
The hummer was rounding the corner ready to pick up his excited passengers. I'm sure he recognized the pesky grandmother as she hid behind her camera but I didn't hang around long enough to see if that was a look of disapproval on his face or one of polite indulgence.
And of course, it would be criminal of me not to include an image of my very handsome grandson and his lovely mother. (A necessary perogative of a proud grandmother.)
We said our Good-Byes and as we returned to our car the aroma of delicious food wafted across our path. It would have been nice to sit and reminisce about our wonderful grandson in the restaurant over a cold drink and seafood meal. But instead, we enjoyed many special memories, all the way home and well into the night........thanking God for the blessing of family.
