Using Matkaparkki while travelling in Finland

Using Matkaparkki to travel to travel around Finland 🇫🇮 is a cheap and affordable way to put your head down at night. 

We have experienced using Travel parking places a few times and generally they are great for getting the basics such as water,  emptying grey water and toilets. The prices vary from 5€ to 40€ depending on what the place offers and where it is.  

However, this is not always that simple. As we found out while travelling to Åland (Ahvenanmaa). We paid 16€ for the night with explicit instructions that the toilets were not available to Matkaparkki clients. 

On the positive side, there is a very nice restaurant in the harbour. It serves a very nice lunch of classic Finnish food. One interesting aspect is that once you have chosen your food from the buffet the staff will ask you to weigh your food. This is how the price is defined. Great value for money and great way of saving money and losing weight. 

For those on a Keto diet like myself, there was a vast choice. 

Was the parking place attractive?

Well,  it wasn't unpleasant, but it wasn't anything to talk about to friends about. 

In fact the only reason to use this place was we had an early morning ferry trip at 6.45 so we needed to get our motorhome ready to roll at about 6.30.

At the end of the day it was an adequate and safe parking place 2 minutes from the ferry. However,  we could have parked in the ferry carpark for free.
