Heinola, Finland is a place you feel you should return to some day. There is a real summer feeling even in early May. Especially, since we have been here in the winter time when it is quite a bleak place to stay.

However,  at the moment Heinola is beautiful and sunny +24 and that is good enough for me.

In the market square we sat for coffee and listened to a old people's singing group. They were singing old tunes from a past gone era. The atmosphere was nostalgic and innocent from a simpler time.

Once we returned to our campervan we decided to make lunch in a parking place near the waterfront.

The view was lovely and it saved us some money by eating in the campervan. The key to cooking on the road is to keep it simple. It is not really possible to make slow food. So lots of healthy foods that can be made in a pot or a pan.

One key aspect of travelling is to keep to a budget more so in Finland where the prices are higher than most European countries.

When we finished lunch we decided to take Aki our Golden retriever for a walk along the waterfront before moving on.

I have to say, I like Heinola. It is a small well kept city with a few nice hotels and restaurants set in a lovely waterfront area. We parked in a parking space with no time restrictions, so we could have stayed the night.

Tomorrow we are returning to Elimäki, Finland to do some maintenance on the campervan before we start travelling around. So hope to see you next time.
