Angkor Wat, the huge temple complex in Cambodia. Many people know this place from the movies. Tomb raider was shot here as well. But what is so special about the temple and the whole complex?

It is clearly the trees that have dug their way through the old buildings over time. The roots are so big and thick that some buildings were almost taken.

This temple complex is so big that it easily takes 2 full days to see everything. We did it in one day and it was definitely too short.

A tip: Get a driver or a scooter to move inside the complex. Because some temples are very far apart and to walk simply too far.

The gates open very early and close at 17 o'clock. If you're fast, you can get in there for free in the evening within 30 minutes and look around for a few meters. If you want to see the sunrise in the morning, you have to expect a lot of people. Because a lot of people get up early for that. So you are not the only one...

There are also many stands within the complex for eating and drinking. It is therefore only worth taking some water with you so that you don't die of thirst, because at noon it can get very hot.

It is important to know that it is best to buy your tickets the evening before, as you will lose too much time in the morning. Because the ticket office is outside the complex and 15 minutes away from the temple complex. In the main sesaion it can cost a lot of time.

Angkor Wat, die riesige Tempelanlage in Kambodscha. Vielen ist dieser Ort von den Filmen her bekannt. Tomb raider wurde hier ebenso gedreht. Doch was ist so besonders an dem Tempel und der ganzen Anlage?

Es sind eindeutig die Bäume, die sich mit der Zeit durch die alten Gebäude gegraben haben. Die Wurzeln sind so groß und dick, dass so manche Gebäude fast eingenommen wurden.

Diese Tempelanlage ist so groß, dass man dafür locker 2 volle Tage benötigt um alles gesehen zu haben. Wir haben es in einem Tag gemacht und es war auf jeden Fall zu kurz.

Ein Tipp: Holt euch ein Fahrer oder ein Roller um innerhalb von der Anlage euch zu bewegen. Denn manche Tempel sind sehr weit auseinander und zu Fuß einfach zu weit zu laufen.

Die Toren öffnen sich sich um sehr früh schon und schließen dann aber auch um 17 Uhr schon. Wer schnell ist, der kann dort abends innerhalb von 30min noch umsonst hinein und sich ein paar Meter umsehen. Wenn du Morgens den Sonnenaufgang sehen willst, musst du mit sehr vielen Menschen rechnen. Denn dafür stehen sehr viele Menschen früh auf. Du bist also nicht der einige...

Zum Essen und trinken gibt es auch innerhalb der Anlage viele Stände. Es lohnt sich daher nur etwas Wasser mit zu nehmen, damit man nicht verdurstet, denn Mittags kann es sehr heiß werden.

Wichtig ist zu wissen, dass du die tickets am besten am Vorabend kaufen solltest, denn Morgens verlierst du damit zu viel zeit. Denn die Kasse ist ausserhalb der Anlage und 15min von der Tempelanlage entfernt. In der Hauptsesaion kann es dann schon sehr viel Zeit kosten.
