Jaco Island? Where is that? What is that?

Jaco is the tropical island you have never heard of. And you have never heard of it because it is in a country that no tourists ever visit. Jaco Island is in East Timor. It's almost unreachable. But it's truly, the best tropical paradise I have ever seen.

Jaco Island is at the far eastern end of East Timor. Few people travel to this tiny country, and those that do will find it difficult to travel outside of the capital city. There are almost no busses, the roads are in bad shape and there is little infrastructure for any traditional tourism.

I travelled for two days across rough roads until I arrived at the far end of the island. From the beach, there is only one place left to visit, Jaco Island.

This tiny tropical island is just a ten minute boat ride from the main island of Timor, but it is completely deserted. There is no accommodation, no camping, no one lives here and no one is allowed to stay over night.

It's a sacred island, and white sand beaches fringe a small jungle covered interior that is surrounded by pristine, coral in the clearest waters imaginable.
