Do you have a city that sticks in your heart? A city that brings you good memories, or bad memories? Or a city that you have lived in for some time? I happen to have a city that I like to visit every year. There's nothing special about it, but for some reason every time it's mentioned, it reminds me of someone.
SEMARANG.
This is my story of travelling to Semarang. The distance from my city to Semarang is not that far. Even if I take a long-distance train, it only takes about an hour and a half. This time, just like my previous visit, I just wanted to walk around. So, after exiting Semarang Tawang station, I found a city bus and headed to my hotel. I only need a day and two nights here. Where did you go? I've been to the Mandala Bhakti Struggle Museum, Lawang Sewu, looking for places to eat, hanging out in cafes just to enjoy this supposedly very hot city. And of course, the one not to be missed. Semarang Old Town
Night in Semarang Old Town
The old town of Semarang is located near the Semawis market, and also close to the Johar traditional market. Initially, I wanted to visit the old town Semarang during the day, but, according to my friend, the temperature in Semarang is hot, so it would be more recommended if the afternoon or night. Since I had a busy schedule in the afternoon, I chose to go there at night.
At first, I walked from Semawis then passed the Johar market. Only about one kilometre, then I met a quiet pedestrian with lots of lighting on the left and right of the road. This meant that I had entered the old city area. About a hundred metres into the area, I came across an iconic building.
The Marba Building
It's clear that the MArba building is one of the many buildings left over from the Dutch era. However, I have no idea what this building is used for now. Judging from the front facade, despite its age, the building still looks well-maintained and preserved. Many people pass by and then pose in front of this building that is painted predominantly red brick. I didn't want to miss the moment to pose with MARBA in the background. Wow ... already semaran
Aside from the Marba building, across the street is another equally iconic building. It says SPIEGEL in big letters. Spiegel or H. Spiegel is also a Dutch building. However, this building has now been converted into a bistro and restaurant owned by an individual.
Originally, my friend and I wanted to go in and see the menu provided. But, unfortunately, there was already a waiting list and the saleswoman advised us to come back tomorrow, because there was a possibility that the waiting list would reach closing time. Alias already fully booked. Was I sad? Of course I was a little sad, but I thought positively that it was a sign that I would come back another time.
To reduce my disappointment, I posed across the Spiegel building as well as manifeting for the next day.
Whaaa... finally, it was getting late and I decided to order a taxi online and head home. That's all for my walk in the old town of Semarang, next time... where else?
Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
