Safranbolu is a accommodation point on the Gerede-Sinop caravan road. The Gerede-Sinop caravan road is one of the most important links connecting the Asia-Europe main trade route passing through the north of Anatolia, to the Black Sea. The size of the Cinci Inn, built in the city center in the middle of the 17th century, is an important proof of the city's this function. There are business lines the production of worked goods-oriented at Safranbolu Bazaar.(smithery, coppersmith, saddlery, shoemaking, etc). And in accordance with the guild style, they appear to be placed together on separate streets. For this reason, the streets of Safranbolu bazaar are named according to the craft branch in that street. Even today, there are artisans who do the job according to the own art, even if there are few in these streets. Historic Blacksmiths Bazaar is one of them.

The bazaar built on both sides of the Akçasu stream passing under the İzzet Mehmet Paşa Mosque is the only living Guild bazaar where hot and cold smithery handicrafts are produced.
