Good to see you back!

This was the last stop for Day 2 in Taiwan — Liberty Square. We were dropped off from the “main gate” and we were so excited that we ran right in front of the structure. It was magnificent. We had to look up (a bit starry-eyed) and glanced from side to side.

And finally, I shall formally introduce you to…

Liberty Square

Last stop was the Liberty Square. We were supposed to go back but the tour guide gave a bonus on our package to make up with the bad weather and the missed waterfall visit. It was a grand place. I don’t think my poor panorama phone camera could take it.

When we got there, people were just packing up from an event held on the grounds. Liberty Square is quite popular when it comes to huge events such as the Lantern Festival.

As mentioned, we were welcomed by the ever magnificent main gate of Liberty Square which was also called the Gate of Great Centrality and Perfect Uprightness.

Once you pass through, you will be facing the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. On its left is the National Concert Hall and on the right is the National Theater.

A huge monument of President Chiang Kai-shek inside the Memorial Hall. He was this excellent miliary leader who created a revolution and rallied up different military forces to overthrow an existing yet not-so-favoured government. His success resulted in reunifying China. The picture below is what you’ll see after climbing up a wide flight of stairs. On the ground level and in a different entrance, there is a museum (which we were not able to go because it was a national holiday at that time). Tanga Moment

Liberty Square is really really big. Even though you’re at the highest step on the stairs of the Memorial Hall, you still can’t see who’s in the center or at the main gate. Why am I sharing this to you? It’s because we lost one of our friends. Despite its wide space, we can’t see each other. We can’t contact her either because her phone was dead. She went to the comfort room and then we lost her. We felt like we were going in circles. She wasn’t even able to take some pictures. It was frustrating. In the end, we all met at the main gate when it was time for the bus to pick us up. Communication. Phone power. Emergency meeting place. Remember that.

And that was it! It was a very productive tour with our Day 2 in Taiwan. Despite the gloomy weather, we got to tick off most places on our list.

We ended the day with some microwaved food and ice cream from 7 Eleven along with a long hot shower before going to bed.
