Today I will describe a public holiday in Poland. A special Thursday. Then there is a holiday in the Roman Catholic Church - Corpus Christi. I will provide some information about the procession of the faithful that takes place throughout Poland and I will provide a report from the largest musical concert related to this holiday.

Corpus Christi, i.e. the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, is one of the most important holidays in the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church. In Poland, they are celebrated with particular solemnity, and the central point of the celebration is the Eucharistic procession. It is celebrated on the Thursday after the octave of Pentecost (i.e. 60 days after Easter). The holiday is intended to be a public declaration of faith in the presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament and has been celebrated in Poland for many centuries. During this time, this day is a public holiday - it is always Thursday, so often this day and Friday, Saturday and Sunday are a long weekend.
Bo偶e Cia艂o, czyli Uroczysto艣膰 Naj艣wi臋tszego Cia艂a i Krwi Chrystusa, jest jednym z najwa偶niejszych 艣wi膮t w kalendarzu liturgicznym Ko艣cio艂a katolickiego. W Polsce obchodzi si臋 je szczeg贸lnie uroczy艣cie, a centralnym punktem obchod贸w jest procesja eucharystyczna. The Corpus Christi procession is a traditional element of the celebration of this holiday. It is a ceremonial procession of the faithful, led by a priest carrying a monstrance with the Holy Sacrament. The procession usually passes through the streets of towns and villages, stopping at four field altars, which symbolize the four directions of the world. Preparations for the procession begin before the holiday itself when residents decorate their houses, streets and altars with flowers, greenery and religious symbols. In the photos above, you can see flags on both sides of the road: red and white (Poland's national colors), yellow and white (Rome's papal colors), and blue and white (Marian colors). Below you can see the altars (I didn't take one photo), there are always four of them.
Procesja Bo偶ego Cia艂a jest tradycyjnym elementem obchod贸w tego 艣wi臋ta. Jest to uroczysty poch贸d wiernych, prowadzony przez kap艂ana nios膮cego monstrancj臋 z Naj艣wi臋tszym Sakramentem. Procesja zazwyczaj przechodzi przez ulice miast i wsi, zatrzymuj膮c si臋 przy czterech o艂tarzach polowych, kt贸re symbolizuj膮 cztery strony 艣wiata. Przygotowania do procesji zaczynaj膮 si臋 przed samym 艣wi臋tem gdy mieszka艅cy przystrajaj膮 domy, ulice i o艂tarze kwiatami, zieleni膮 i religijnymi symbolami. During the Corpus Christi procession, the priest carries a monstrance, i.e. a gold or silver reliquary in which the consecrated host is placed. A canopy is carried over the priest, symbolizing the protection and dignity of the Blessed Sacrament. Little girls sprinkle flowers in front of the monstrance, which is a symbol of worship. The faithful carry banners and banners depicting various religious symbols. The entire procession is filled with singing Eucharistic songs and reciting prayers by the participants. In different regions of Poland, there are different traditions related to the Corpus Christi procession. In some towns and villages, processions are particularly colorful and spectacular, with the participation of numerous parish groups, brass bands and folk bands. These celebrations can also be very modest, where people only go around the church.

W r贸偶nych regionach Polski istniej膮 r贸偶ne tradycje zwi膮zane z procesj膮 Bo偶ego Cia艂a. W niekt贸rych miastach i wsiach procesje s膮 szczeg贸lnie barwne i widowiskowe, z udzia艂em licznych grup parafialnych, orkiestr d臋tych i zespo艂贸w ludowych. Mog膮 te偶 te uroczysto艣ci by膰 bardzo skromne, gdzie idzie si臋 tylko dooko艂a ko艣cio艂a.
During the octave of Corpus Christi (i.e. for the entire week after this holiday), many parishes organize daily processions, although they are usually less solemn than the main one on Thursday. The tradition of little girls spilling flowers continues throughout the octave. Girls dressed in white dresses walk in front of the monstrance, scattering flower petals. Meanwhile, young boys ring bells.

I also mentioned the concert that is organized on this day. The One Heart One Spirit Concert, which has been held in Rzesz贸w since 2003, is one of the largest Christian music events in Poland. Organized annually on Corpus Christi, it attracts thousands of participants from all over Poland and abroad. This year there were over 25,000 people.

Koncert Jednego Serca Jednego Ducha, kt贸ry odbywa si臋 od 2003 roku w Rzeszowie to jedno z najwi臋kszych wydarze艅 muzyki chrze艣cija艅skiej w Polsce. Organizowany corocznie w Bo偶e Cia艂o, przyci膮ga tysi膮ce uczestnik贸w z ca艂ej Polski i granicy. W tym roku by艂o ponad 25 tysi臋cy os贸b.
The event has been organized for many years in the Siberians' Park, which commemorates Poles exiled to Siberia (Syberians), victims of tsarist and Soviet repression, especially during World War II.

Preparations for the "One Heart, One Spirit" concert begin many months before the event itself, usually a month or two after the concert, a performance is being prepared that will take place next year. Artists (usually volunteers) start by choosing the repertoire, carefully selecting the songs that will be performed and preparing special arrangements for the concert. Then, individual and group rehearsals take place, which allow for refining each part of the performance. The choir is very popular and many people want to join it, so auditions are held and the best vocal voices are selected.

This large event is very popular with many people, parents with children also come. There are many attractions for the youngest, including a city of inflatable slides. There is also a restaurant and stalls with various toys for children. The whole thing is well secured logistically, the event is supervised by security services, medics, policemen and firefighters.
To du偶e wydarzenie jest bardzo lubiane przez wiele ludzi, przychodz膮 r贸wnie偶 rodzice z dzie膰mi. Dla najm艂odszych jest wiele atrakcji, miasto dmuchanych zje偶d偶alni. Jest te偶 gastronomia, stragany z r贸偶nymi zabawkami dla najm艂odszych. Ca艂o艣膰 jest dobrze zabezpieczona logistycznie, nad wydarzeniem czuwaj膮 s艂u偶by porz膮dkowe, medycy, policjanci, stra偶acy.

One of the most interesting elements is the lighting of the event. As the sunset begins, volunteers hand out thousands of small candles for free. When darkness falls, the crowd is illuminated by a living flame of fire - a symbol of the Holy Spirit.
