I'm an avid outdoorsman that prefers to hit the hit the lesser known trails, because people tend to distract me from my peace and crowds rarely show common courtesy. Another reason I prefer the trail to myself is because Nietzsche(Neechee) my pup is a free runner and I don't like to put him on a leash.
I'm based in Omaha, NE, which is not known for it's hiking trails. For this reason I travel out-of-state quite often for multiday hikes. By far my favorite trails to visit are in the Colorado Rockies. I try to visit a different trail at least once a year, but I usually get out there 2-3 times a year.
I'm not just landbased either. I'm an avid kayaker and love the water. Growing up in Michigan where we are not only surrounded by water, but have a plethora of inland lakes and rivers, I would kayak and canoe regularly. One of my favorite rivers to visit is Pine River near Cadillac, MI. Every year on Memorial Weekend, a few 4th of July's and many Labor Day weekends a large group of friends and I would canoe/kayak this river for well over a decade.
As my name suggests I also love to cycle. My pride and joy is not just a basic bike though. I've built an E-bike and a trailer that's equipped with a 48v Solar Array. I built the SolCycle last year to boondock America with. This year I'll be testing it on many long-term trips to assess it's abilities to perfect the set-up. The goal is to eventually travel America from coast to coast and beyond.
I like to record all my trips with images, both still and video and sharing them with the world. I use a Canon T7i, multiple off-brand sports cameras and a drone to capture every detail. I'm detail oriented, so I like to explain the hikes down to terrain, so you know exactly what you are getting into when researching your next quest.
I tend to research my adventures well in advance, finding the information quite patchy. When I finally hit the trail, I find out many things I wished was available to me during the initial research phase. Because of this, I make sure to go in depth of my experience when I write my articles, so others can find the information important to them.
My first adventure will be a 150 mi. test run of the SolCycle on the Wabash Trace Trail in Western Iowa and my second will be a float down the Niobrara River, which is part of the Northern Border of Nebraska and empties into the Missouri River. It's listed as one of the Top 10 water trails in America.
I look forward to meeting all of you and accompanying you on your adventures through your blogs. This is a brand new account on Hive and I just recently published my introduction post, which you can find here.
