In this article I would like to introduce you to a small jewel located in the Chianti area in Tuscany, a Tuscan village that in my opinion is difficult to forget.

We are talking about a village that has managed over the years to preserve its streets its authentic charm of its history.

This beautiful village is a fraction of the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the province of Siena and is located much further north than the capital.

The village is one of the classic examples of a fortified village and in fact it still retains the two access gates, naturally since its foundation the village was under the influence of Siena and then the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, most likely precisely because it is located in a position that dominates the whole valley.

In the village there are very few shops as you can see there are only the essential services to be able to survive and this for some can be a problem but for others it can be a return to the past, improve their lives.

This figure you see in the photo is Luca Gava and according to the legend he was placed there by a landlord of the town who was tired of having to clean the dirt of the visitors, so he decided to build a closet used as a bathroom but since his customers were illiterate and could not read and understand what this closet was for, he decided to make the statuette to explain the use of the bathroom, a really fun thing.

So if you are on holiday in Tuscany near Siena I definitely recommend a visit to this beautiful village, a truly magical place.
