Today in this post I would like to tell you about this beautiful walled city, which I was lucky enough to visit a few weeks ago.
This is a historic town in the province of Vicenza, where its most important square is where the annual chess game with living characters takes place.
This is Chess Square, which you can see here in the photo and is the most interesting and most visited spot in the city.
This has always been the main square in Marostica, ever since it was built in 1300, and even now it is the place where most events take place villagers
The match is one of the most important historical re-enactments in the world, and thousands of people usually attend.
If you go up this staircase, you can reach the upper castle, which towers over the hill. Unfortunately, as I am a lazy person, I didn't go up there, but next time I will go there for you.
The one you see in the photo above is the lower castle, because Marostica used to have two castles and is still surrounded by imposing walls to better protect the town from attack.
In the picture above I photographed this strange sculpture, I think it was a modern installation, unfortunately there was no sign with an explanation.
I hope you enjoyed my photos, I didn't take that many that day because my phone was out of juice, but I will definitely go back and take more for you.
