When I return to visit my aunt, I always go to visit this splendid Abbey which is not so far from Isernia.This splendid complex is located near the Volturno river, I read close to this wonder that was built in 700 by the Benedictine monks.
the old abbey was destroyed and the new one was built that you see in the photo, of the old one remained part of the construction that was recovered over time by archaeological excavations.
is nice in my opinion to see this contrast between the new and the old.
For visitors, the entrance is free, stopping in this corner of Molise is to escape from the chaotic life that surrounds us, here you really find peace.
the sadness, however, of the situation is that the archaeological excavations would have great potential, because the whole part of the old abbey is buried but for the sake of the fact that they are not financed, and many things remain so hidden.
We hope that they will soon be financed to enhance this part of the Marche region.
Most of the abbots who followed one another at the helm of this abbey are buried here and if you want to visit the crypt you must book through the phone number or email.
