Today we took a long drive all the way to Uppsala to explore the Koh Phangan thai restaurang. This restaurant gives you the feeling that you are in Thailand.
Even though we live in Stockholm, we don't have the opportunity to go into Koh Phangan in Stockholm just to eat. But as the family likes long journeys, we thought we would go to Uppsala and take the opportunity to eat at Koh Phangan Thai restaurang.

Exploring the Menu and Popular Dishes
The menu at Koh Phangan is extensive and offers something for everyone. We took our time to go through the menu and there is a lot to choose from. Wide selection of seafood, meat and chicken dishes, as well as vegan options. There is also a children's menu. They clearly mentioned HOT & NOT SO HOT beside every dish in the menu..
Highlights of Our Meal
The waitress brought us a bowl of salad to start.
Pat Thai Kong
Pad Thai is a dish that my boys usually eat when we go out for Thai food. It's a dish that we always enjoy, but it's also one of those dishes that can be hit or miss. Sometimes the noodles are overcooked and mushy, or the sauce is too sweet or sour. But when it's done right, it's an absolutely delicious dish. The egg noodles in this pad thai were cooked perfectly - they were firm but not overdone, and they soaked up the sauce beautifully. The scampi was also cooked well, with a lovely strong and flavoursome taste. The sauce was a perfect balance of sweet, sour and chilli, and the toppings of nuts and sprouts added a great crunch. Overall, this was an excellent pad thai dish and I would definitely order it again.
Kao Pat Gai
As a parent, it's always great to see our kids enjoying the food they eat. And when they choose something from the children's menu that we know is going to be both tasty and nutritious, it makes us feel even better. So when our daughter ordered Kao Pat Gai from the children's menu, we were thrilled. The Kao Pat Gai was a perfect portion size for a child, and it was packed with flavour. The rice was topped with an egg omelette and chicken strips, and it was all seasoned perfectly. Our daughter loved it, and we were so happy to see her enjoying a healthy meal.
Gai Met Mamoang
My wife ordered Gai Met Mamoang. This dish is absolutely perfect for those who love extra saucy stews! The chicken and peppers are perfectly stir-fried and topped with cashew nuts - and the whole dish is drowning in delicious sweet and sour soya sauce. The rice was perfectly cooked. This dish was served in a separate bowl, which I thought was good.
Ph Peh Pak
When it comes to starter, I usually like to go for something light and refreshing. So when I saw that the Ph Peh Pak had vegetarian spring rolls on the menu, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the dish was quite oily and not as good as I've had in other places. The spring rolls were served with sweet chilli sauce, but it wasn't enough to save the dish.
Koong Choop Beng Tot
The Koong Choop Beng Tot is a fried scampi dish that is served with a plum sauce. The dish is a popular choice for many Thai people, as it is both tasty and filling. The scampi is fried in a way that makes it extra crispy, and the plum sauce gives the dish a unique sweetness. I really enjoyed this dish.
Dessert
After a filling meal, sometimes all you want is something sweet. And that's exactly what the children wanted after their dinner at the restaurant. The banana split was huge, with a big banana, three scoops of ice cream, and lashings of chocolate sauce on top. It quickly became their new favourite dessert.
The sorbet ice cream was also a hit with the kids.
After trying out Koh Phangan Thai Restaurang, we have to say that we were impressed!
For us, the experience of dining at an exotic Thai restaurant was the primary draw. Being able to sit in an environment that transports you directly to Thailand, Bangkok, is an experience you can't find anywhere else. We were fortunate that the food met our expectations and made for a wonderful overall experience that we would recommend to others.
