Greenwich Market is worth visiting

The Greenwich market is probably not on your list of places to visit. But maybe it should. Don't get me wrong, if you are into street markets, there are some others around London that are way bigger and I dare to say better. Now listen, even this not being the best market in London it is worth the visit when you are in the area.

I have told you already about the Cutty Sark and the Greenwich park, and those are suggestions I recommend you to visit. That's why, it is clever to add the Greenwich market to the itinerary. It is is the same location, and if you don't know about it, you might miss it.

As I told you, this is not the biggest market so it can be really easy to miss it out, even when you pass by, this market looks like any other of the buildings on the area and it is almost camouflaged. But from all the directions, you will be able to find entrances, so keep your eyes open for any signs.

If you come from the DLR station in the Cutty Sark direction or even starting your walk to the Greenwich park, you will see a building, only ground floor, that is the Greenwich market.

All the entrances are discreetly marked as you see below.

Some of them as you can see, you barely can see the market in the centre of the building. That's why if you don't know about it's existence you might just pass by the building, thinking there is nothing inside.

You will be able to find a lot of vintage stuff in this small market but also, you can find a lot of local artists and artisans that sell their own works in there.

Around the building, and specially during the summer time, there are also some places selling stuff outside of the building and the market area, but this is the main hall and the area where you can find all the sellers.

In the Market you get also some shops, and even some pubs and coffee shops where you can stop by and simply enjoy people enjoying their day on the Market. Feel the vibes and live the atmosphere.

There are a couple of tiny streets around the market, those are also full of shops and more awesome places to grab a coffee, a drink or even a bite. You can spend some time in the market or make it just a quick walk by visit, depending on the plans you have.

You can pick which type of visit you want to make to the Greenwich Market, a quick walk through or a longer once.

Now, this is the important part, specially if you are also planning places to eat, maybe the street food part of the market can be an awesome choice for you.

And this is why I like to advise people to go and visit the market. Since the days walking around can be very tiring, it is always awesome to stop in a nice place, with a good vibe and atmosphere to enjoy some nice delicious food.

Once again, the food choices are varied but there are not a lot of stands, so if you go at "regular lunch time" then you might be waiting in the queue for a while. But anyway, it is worth it.

You can grab your food and have it just there. Let me warn you that there are not many places to sit.

But what I would recommend, it to grab your meal. Head to the river side, just by the Cutty Sark and have your food in there.

That or, you also can grab the food and head to the Greenwich park, and have your meal in the park.

This is the main reason why I want you to add the market to the places to visit. You grab some food, you get to eat that food in one of the places you come to visit, and you get to enjoy that place while you are enjoying some nice street food.

To me personally, that sounds like a wining combination.

I can tell you that even after 12 years living in London, this is one of the places, that when the sun is out I have to go back. I am in Greenwich at least 3 or 4 times a year. And many of those times, I always end up grabbing something from the street food market.

Because even I am not a tourist in London anymore, I still love to live the moments when I am in there.

In resume, the Greenwich Market is a cool and nice market in London, with some nice choices when it comes to street food. It is not the biggest or the best street market in London, but the whole area have other things to see, like the Cutty Sark and Greenwich Park. For those reasons, I recommend you to add the market to the list of places to stop.
