The Seiber is a mountain near Weissenkirchen in Lower Austria.
For this hike you will need approximately three hours. You start it at the market square of Weissenkirchen.
From there you walk to the Rathaus (Municipal office) that has been built in the 16th century.
From there you walk up the Seiberstrasse.
After leaving the dwelling area you reach the L78 main road that is also called "Seiberstrasse" or "Seibererstrasse" and turn right into it.
You can follow the white-green-white markings.
After 590 meters you have to turn right and walk on a paved road in the wood, still following the white-green-white markings.
At the crossing you turn right into the "Güterweg Seiber".
Then you come to another crossing. At this crossing you see a wayside cross. Here you have tu walk straight ahead.
After a walk through vineyards and woodland you come to the L78 again, cross it and walk straight ahaed into the wood.
You will soon come to the L78 again, turn left into it and after 180 meters turn right into the wood.
The path through the wood is more or less parallel to the L78. You will pass by a wayside shrine called "Weisses Kreuz" ("White cross").
The path through the wood ends at the L7095. You turn right into this main road and continue walking upwards.
Soon you reach a hamlet called "Am Seiber".
At the bend you walk straight ahead.
On your left you will have a wonderful view on the Danube river.
Then you walk back to the L809, turn left into it. Soon you will see this junction box. Here you have to turn right. For walking back you have to follow the white-blue-white markings.
You will pass by the "Schutzhaus am Seiber". This house used to be a shelter house and mountain inn. Unfortunately it was closed years ago.
The way through the wood is sometimes not easy to find. Please continue following the white-blue-white markings. I also recommend using a GPS for hiking and following the paths of OpenStreetMap. Other paths are not so exact on this mountain!
The path leads to the L78, but you have to turn into the path turning off left just right before the main road.
But I recommend to walk up the L78 to the parking space "Taberreith" which is about 150 meters walking distance away from you. From this parking space you have a really amazing view on Weissenkirchen.
But now back to the hiking trail which soon will leave the woodland and into the vineyards.
The way down through the vineyards is steep but you have an amazing view on the Danube river again.
At the second crossing you turn left and leave the marked paths.
Soon you will come into a wood again.
Before entering the wood you should for a last time enjoy a wonderful view on Weissenkirchen.
The way ends at the L7094 main road in that you turn right. The road follows a stream called "Grubbach".
You pass by the Cholerakreuz. This wayside cross was erected in 1863 to thank God for preventing Weissenkirchen from a Cholera epidemic.
On the L7094 you walk back to Weissenkirchen.
Now you just have to follow the road to come back to the market square.
