Ten days ago @trumpman and I travelled to Constantinople or Istanbul or for us Greeks Πόλη (The City)...
It is a long road trip by coach, but totally worth it!
Travelling all night the sunrise meets us just outside Constantinople where the tall skyscrapers begin to pop out in the horizon.
It is a lovely image of a misty countryside landscape subsiding and giving way to the urban jungle of concrete and metal.
Our first stop is the temple of Ζωοδόχος Πηγή (The life-giving fountain) where we pay our respects to the holy icons and drink some holy water.
Next stop the huge bazaar Kapaliçarşi.
A protected place where you can find jewelry,
delights, spices and tea,
clothes,
smoking equipment,
lamps and other folklore decorations.
One double Turkish (although in Greece we call it Greek) coffee and we are good to go to our hotel.
Hey! How about a snack from this old man who sells nice buns?
Or one more cup of coffee from this guy over there?
I think we've seen enough, we need to get to the hotel. We have been travelling all night and we need some rest. In the evening we are to see the biggest high street in the City, Istiklal. A pedestrianized 2-kilometer long street, full of shops, restaurants and pastry shops!
This road is always crowded - Watch out for the tram, it's constantly going up and down!
Let's grab some dinner first.
And then DESSERT!
The choices are so many...
Waaaay too many!
Ok! I've made up my mind, I'm having this one (don't remember what it's called, but it's basically a thick rice pudding with chocolate sauce on it - delicious!)
What a day! Now we need to get back to the hotel, because tomorrow is going to be a loooong day with lots of activities and sights to see.
Sleep tight!
I'll see you all tomorrow!
Thank you so much for your time!
Until my next post,
Steem on and keep smiling, people!
