This trip to Bangkok happened just before New Year, back when our little one hadn’t broken his leg yet. Bangkok is a strange and fascinating city — a place where luxury and poverty exist side by side, sometimes on the very same street.
For some reason, Bangkok always gives me a feeling that something “bad” might happen. Not bad in a serious way — more like in The Hangover Part II kind of way. The city has that chaotic energy that makes you want to break your routine.
No, I don’t do cocaine and I don’t visit prostitutes 😄
What really happens is much simpler — I start eating and drinking things I normally avoid.
In everyday life, I’m pretty strict about my diet, and I drink alcohol maybe once every six months. But as soon as I arrive in Bangkok, something switches in my head. Burgers suddenly feel like a great idea. Sweet, colorful alcoholic cocktails start appearing in my hands. One turns into two, two into three — and suddenly I’m fully in “Bangkok mode.”
I also get drawn to noisy, crowded places. Normally, I avoid that kind of environment, but in Bangkok it feels different. I can’t really explain how it works — the city just messes with my brain in its own special way.
That day, we also did something new for the first time. We had a street artist draw a portrait of our kid for 200 baht. It was his first time ever posing for a portrait, and now he treats that drawing like a real treasure. He wants to take it to Russia and hang it on the wall.
As soon as his cast is removed, we’re definitely going back to Bangkok for more small adventures.
Because for better or worse, this city always finds a way to pull me back in.

Thank you for sharing these moments with me! Until new stories and new holidays! ✌️.
