Six months have almost passed since I left my homeland, and today for the first time I felt a small wave of nostalgia. I guess this feeling visits almost everyone who spends a long time living in another country.
While scrolling through my old photos from before the trip, I stumbled upon a few shots taken in a simple village meadow. Nature in Siberia is not known for being fancy or exotic, but it’s what I grew up with, and because of that it feels beautiful to me in its own quiet way.
There were ordinary wildflowers — the kind I don’t even know the names of. But when I looked at them closely, they suddenly seemed worth showing. Sometimes the simplest things deserve attention the most.
That same day, near a small river, a group of cows was grazing. I decided to show them to my son up close. They had newborn calves with them and clearly didn’t want us getting too near — but it’s hard to hide from a camera lens.
You could see in one cow’s eyes that she wasn’t happy about our presence at all and was absolutely ready to protect her calf. That look said everything without a single sound.
While I was preparing the photos and writing this text, it felt like I briefly returned there, and strangely enough it made me feel calmer.
Right now everything back home is covered in snow and the temperature is probably around –30°C, while I still have a few more months to enjoy the sun and warmth of Thailand.
I write my texts myself, correct mistakes and translate via ChatGPT (which is not a violation on Hive)!
