Hameediyah is renowned among Nasi Kandar lovers. Although I wouldn't consider myself an avid lover of Nasi Kandar. There are times when I do have a craving for Nasi Kandar. During our visit to Pulau Pinang last weekend, I and my family couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit the famous Hameediyah restaurant.

There is a branch of Hameediyah in Kuala Lumpur. But since I was in Penang, might as well try to have our lunch at the original branch. After purchasing some souvenier at Lebuh India, we head to the restaurant on foot.

The original Hameediyah restaurant was just a short 5-minute walk away. By the time we arrived, I noticed that a queue had started to build up. Instead of immediately joining the queue, my family and I went inside the restaurant to secure a table first. Once we had a table, I asked my daughters to sit and wait there

While my daughter is waiting for me to come with the food, I have ordered drinks for them. I and my wife then proceed to jump into the queue. The weather was really sunny and hot that day. I was drenched in sweat while queuing.

After enduring the hot weather and a long queue of over 20 minutes, we finally reached the front. There, we told the staff about our food selections. The staff swiftly prepared our dishes. While the process of getting the food itself was fast, the majority of the time was spent waiting in the queue

The restaurant gained fame for its fried chicken and diverse range of curry options. In fact, I was surprised to see rabbit curry on their menu as well.

Hameediyah restaurant has been recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records as the oldest nasi kandar restaurant in Pulau Pinang which has been established for more than 100 years.

As you can see in the pictures, there are various options to choose from. The options can make you feel a bit overwhelmed. I stick to my usual menu which is fried chicken, some mixed vegetables, and honey curry gravy.

I left it to my wife to choose the options for my daughters. After getting all the required food, we were handed a card. We went to the cashier counter and passed the card to the cashier. In total, I was charged MYR60 for the food and drink. The price is reasonable.

In terms of taste, I can confidently say that this is the best nasi kandar that I have ever eaten so far. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was totally worth the wait.

Without a doubt, I will make another round of visits to this restaurant the next time I visit Pulau Pinang in the future.
