Trip to Port Said, Egypt: 2010

Today, I would like to share one of my trips I took when I was in Egypt. It was on the occasion of Eid 2010. I was there with my Parents and on such occasions, we used to hire/rent a car to have a long ride and explore different places nearby city of Cairo. This time we decided to check out the beaches of Port Said and spent our second day of Eid outside Cairo.

It is 2 and a half hour of drive away from Cairo. We did breakfast at home and left for Port Said before noon. Our driver was local and he knew that place very well. We had a good and nice chit chat with him on the way and we planned to have lunch at Port Said and will return back after spending couple of hours at the beach. Our driver was a real nice guy and he took us to the appropriate point in Port Said from where we can sit and watch out the big ships and vessels entering the Suez Canal.

Due to the public holiday, resorts and huts were crowded and it was just the starting. It is going to be huge in the evening so we did the right thing to hit the place before 3 pm. There were lots and lots of families and their kids enjoying the waves and pure local atmosphere, not many tourists around. We were so relaxed as our driver took the opportunity to book the hut for a short period of time in les amount. He asked us not to talk with any locals there or they will overcharge by considering you tourists.

Separate hut was not available due to rush period and many people around, there was an entry fees and one can enjoy by sitting at any available and free space which was hard to find but still our guide/driver arranged table for us where we spent an hour or so, watching the sea shores and waves.

It is always so nice and relaxing to just sit and watch the sea. I captured some big ships and vessels. I also tried to capture the moments where we can see the families enjoying in the water and off the water. We the people of Karachi, Pakistan, like sea view so much even though we have our own sea view but it is always nice to explore other coastal areas.

After spending an hour in the hut, we headed to the nearby restaurant to have the lunch. I asked our guide cum driver to order on your own and let us have the best seafood which you locals enjoy. He was happy to place the order. In the beginning, me and my Father were served with a soup bowl. It was a funny story hehehe we both had a sip of it to check if its ok and it was superb, so tasty and yummy. we had it all but what we saw in the end just messed everything for my Father not me because I am ok with a crab soup hehehe. We both enjoyed the soup but my Father enjoyed until he saw the crab in the end and it all messed up. He was so annoyed and mad that why they didn’t informed that it was a crab soup. Maybe they did but we didn’t understood hehe I totally enjoyed the soup because it was delicious. I still remember that moment of my Father watching that crab with an angry face hehehe.

The lunch was superb, the platter was full of different fishes and we all enjoyed that meal. The other awesome news was that it was not that expensive as we thought it would be and thanks to our guide cum driver who directly coordinated with the restaurant staff and paid from his own pocket. However, we paid him at the end of this trip but he showed the restaurant people that we were not paying for that lunch or else the price would be totally different. we were so hungry and busy in eating that i didn't took a single picture of the food. But yes, we had a good time altogether at Port Said and enjoyed the trip.
