One of the largest park I have ever seen, Al Azhar Park, it is all about greenery and freshness.
These plants & flowers play a major role in our lives, makes you fresh and put smile on your face. This was practically experienced by myself and my parents. No matter how much workload or tensions you have, one visit and it will change you upside down.
In my stay of 4 years at Cairo, I have visited this park several times with family. My friends circle in Egypt was more of adventurous type so unfortunately, no visit with friends to this place. Although, I always tried to convince my friends that this would be a great plan to execute and have fun with lovely photo-shoot but they never agreed on it.
It was 30 min of drive from my location, located in the middle of old city of Cairo. On the way, you can clearly see old buildings and congested colonies. Park is spread a long way and amazing views all around. Entry fee is reasonable and I find more locals here than tourists. Families, couples, students, majority locals enjoy at this park.
We use to go there midday, place mat sheet in one of the huts and use to lye down for couple of hours. It is so quiet and relaxing, had a nap and then lunch.
There are few cafes and restaurants inside the park, nice and clean but we use to take homemade food with us and do lunch in huts. then we move onward to explore the park, walk through the pathways.
Park is so well-maintained , lakes and fountains, it is much eye catching. After spending few hours with nature here, you may feel better mentally and physically both ways.
I came to know through one of Cab driver that this was once a dump place. This shocked me so I searched and came to know that he was so right.Park is also included in world's great places by project for public spaces. This is the huge achievement for people who were involved in making of this park.
There is a kid play area which keep little ones busy and happy. We never faced any issue in our several visits but would like to appreciate the management who has handled and kept this area so nice and clean. Hope, this park would stay the same forever.
Cheers!!!!
