Perfume Souk
The Perfume Souk is situated on the Sikkat Al Khail Road, east of the Gold Souk.
This map will give you a good direction to find the perfume souk shops.
Look for the Gold Souk to give you a sense of orientation.
From here, you will find your way to the perfume souks. Actually you will be able to smell the powerful and pleasant aroma of the Perfume souk already before you turn the street.
Turn into these streets and you will find international and Arabic perfumes with ornate, jars, gem encrusted bottles and incense.
When I walked around in this Perfume souk, I came to realize how much fragrance is an important hallmark of Arabian life.
We don't smell this kind of fragrance in our Western world at all.
But here in the Perfume souk, your nostrils will be able to feel the exotic array of scents here.
Some scents are mild.
Some scents are very strong.
Some scents, to me, are potent and I need to walk away.
You will discover that the Dubai Perfume Souk will beckon your attention in many directions because of the aroma you feel in the air.
You can always ask the merchants in the stalls to test out the incense before you purchase any of them.
Some of them come in a nice stick.
Some of them come in powder form.
Some of them come in crystal form.
Some of them are put in the wood elements with fragrant material.
Make sure you have a feel of the unique scent that you like.
But that one for yourself as a sourvenir.
That fragrance will go with you like a personalized aroma.
Remember, Arabian perfumes are oil based so be careful that you don't spill them onto your clothes because it will leave a stain there that you can't wash away. Be careful that you don't spray them onto your clothes.
Look for frankincense.
This is the most popular incense and is available in all the stalls in the Dubai perfume souk.
Breathe in the aromatic scent.
The Perfume Souk Streets
Find these two streets also: Al Soor and Souk Deira
There are lots of shops on these 2 streets for you to explore so take your time when you are here.
There is no need to rush.
Most shops here sell a mix of international brands and the flowery oil based perfumes.
You can always ask them to mix the scents for you to create your very own. This is why you need to spend time to explore these shops, especially for the ladies who love perfumes.
After you find the scent that you love, then you can look for the bottles that you like to put the scents in.
I have not been to other places where the shop keepers will do this for you but these shop keepers have all the time in the world for you in Dubai. And they love doing this for you too.
They are not in a rush also, as if they have all the time for you.
That is surely a different kind of life style that we don't experience in HK or in the Western world. We are always rushing and fighting for time.
Spend time to make your own bottle of fragrance to take home.
