Tucked away in an alley behind Main st. and just doors from Orange st. is a speakeasy kind of place with a super relaxed atmosphere.
Walking up to the entrance you do not expect much, due to the low key sign on the door.
Once you step In you begin to wonder if you are actually walking into a punk or metal bar, for there is a graffiti skull on the wall. I love those kinds of places, so I got a little excited. However, punk was not what I was expecting from what I heard of the place.
Entering the antique bulb lit bar area you are welcomed with some relaxing ambient, or electro pop sounds with some occasional catchy chill hip hop.
Being a metal fabricator I really appreciated the steel bar rack. The chipped away stucco exposes the century old brick walls. The place has a industrial feel with a smack of lumberjack.
I tried two different drinks during my experience here. My favorite was the Sir Sazarac. Now, the Sazarac drink is new to me, so I am not the best judge. However I absolutely loved this cocktail. Apperently what makes this different from the original is that it is smoother. I get a kick that they use Earl Grey infused bourbon, however it does not dominate the flavor. This is one of those drinks that the bartender has to torch. The pyro in me was pleased.
Sir Sazarac himself.
The other cocktail I tried was "Not Michael's Twist". Being composed of Elder Liqour, Gin, Green Tea and and fresh Grapefruit Juice. It was light and refreshing and reminded me of the scent of the elderberry bushes that grow on my moms property when they bloom.
They had bar seating as well as lounge in the back. Food is also served, but I had already ate, so perhaps another time.If you find yourself in Sarasota and want to have some low key cocktails, I highly recommend stopping in.
Snap shot of their munchies menu, note the rabbit tacos!
