Hi Steemians, this is the part two of my Ubud morning stroll. On my previous post I went to Ubud art Market and Ubud Palace. I continued my stroll to Bu Oka's house and Saraswati Temple.

Just like any region have special local food, so is Bali. One of the favorite of many Balinese is roasted pork, called babi guling in Balinese. All over Bali, there are many food stalls served this special cuisine all over Bali.

Bu Oka's House

Across from the Ubud palace, to the west, there is a food stall called Babi Guling Ibu Oka or Madam Oka roasted pork. I haven know the food stall since 20 years ago form a very small stall now to become food stall with good reputation. Not just local go to this place, but many tourists also come to this place to try Bu Oka's babi guling.

I took a shortcut from Ubud market to Bu Oka's house via a small path. When I arrived at the front of the house, there is a sign saying Suckling pig no 3. Nowadays, she opened 3 branches, the last one is the one in her own house. The sign said close, well it was 9 AM. The food stall open at 10.30.

In her house, after saying hello, I went in to the back of the kitchen. It was the roasting room. There were some men sitting in front of furnace, while holding the roasting pigs.

These men begin roasting the pig from 4 AM, and finish by 9 AM. For her food stalls, they prepared 7 roasted pigs every day. Later these roasted pigs were distributed into 3 food stalls.

These men were working and having great conversation with each others.

They were very busy at that moment, but they still had great conversation with each other. I said good bye and thank you to them. I walked to the alley again, and finally got out to the main road of Ubud again. This time I was going to go to the Saraswati temple.

The Saraswati Temple

Walking for about hundred meter west of the Ubud Palace, I arrived in Saraswati temple. The temple was just by the street. It's easy to find because there was restaurant in front of it, called the Lotus restaurant.

I walked for 5 minutes to the west from Ubud Market to reach the temple.

The temple was built in 1952 by I Gusti Nyoman Lempad, a very talented artisan of Bali. Dedicated to the Goddess of knowledge, this temple is the landmark of Ubud.

I walked on the pavement by the street toward the Lotus restaurant. The restaurant gate is also the temple gate. To reach the temple, from the gate, I turned right. Just few steps more, I could see the lotus pond, and the temple of the goddess knowledge.

There were already some visitors taking photo when I got there. They also took photos of the temple, and the lotus pond.

After this temple, my morning Ubud stroll was finished, because it was not morning anymore. Should I go back to Bu Oka's food stall? That's what I thought.
