Yesterday I went on another hotel trip my a client. The hotel was called Munduk Moding Plantation Hotel located in a village called Munduk in Bali. Munduk is a village with a cool temperature because it is situated in midland Bali, about 1000 meter above sea level. And this is my story.
Hotel lobby area.
As it name implies, Munduk Moding Plantation, the hotel has its own farm. And coffee is what grows a lot in this area. I think that's the reason for them to serve coffee as its signature welcome drink. What about those who don't drink coget ffee?
The hotel assistant manager came and said, "Come, I will show you around the hotel."
The Atmosphere
The temperature was quite cold, maybe around 19 degrees celcius. It could go lower, but since at the moment this post is written, it was hot season in Bali, the cold temperature was bearable for me.
You may laugh saying 19 degrees is cold, but imagine in the main city, which is about 60 kms from Munduk, temperature is 36 degrees.
Some people hates cold weather, but for me who constantly live in hot weather for a year, it's great to have a change. This was what I felt when I was at the hotel. The air was cool and pleasant.,
Walking in the lobby and then to the back of the lobby, i could see the view of plantation of cloves and coffee. This farm strecthed over hills. There was fog in the farm which come closer and closer to the hotel. The farm become invisible. Still the view was great, it added mysterious feeling to the atmosphere.
The Facilities
The assistant manager took us to the buildings near the hotel lobby. There was a building like a lounge, a little library (I don't think people read books nowadays) and a billiard table room, and a coffee cafe. The public swimming pool was also near the lobby. With the fog, the swimming pool looked interesting. See this photo.
It is a great time to hang around the in the lounge or the billiard table room while nejoying the view and the cool air.
The assistant manager also took us to the horse stable which belong to the hotel where the guest can ride the horse. There was also a bamboo hall and coffee procesing and packaging building.
The Room
There was one room we could see that day. Most of the rooms were occupied. This was something extraordinary. During the low season like this time (November - March) this hotel had a higher percentage of occupancy.
The room we went to was considered the lowest category. The rate was about 250 USD per night. According to the assistant manager, most of those guests staying in the hotel are honeymooners.
The lowest category room was great. It has nice view, beuatiul bed setup, a bath and shower. Why would people need to go higher than this category that it is already so great?
Final Words
The hotel is a great place to stay for a change. It has great view and cool air. Being in this hotel area it is like an escape from the hustle and bustle of life.
