The day before our planned visit to the Museu da Broa, the skies had opened up with a torrential downpour. The rain poured relentlessly, soaking the earth and leaving a fresh, earthy scent in the air.
Despite the gloomy weather, we were optimistic about our trip. The forecast for the next day promised clear skies ๐ and we were eager to explore the museum unique exhibits and the surrounding natural beauty.
Early the next morning, we set off on our journey to Capela, a charming village in the north of Portugal. The drive was scenic, with rolling hills and lush greenery flanking the winding roads. The rain had cleansed the landscape, leaving everything looking vibrant and rejuvenated.
We were greeted by the sight of the Museu da Broa, an open air museum that seamlessly blended with its natural surroundings ๐ณ
The museum is not housed in a single building, instead, it consists of several structures scattered across a verdant hillside. This unique setup allows visitors to enjoy the fresh air and stunning views.
Although we didn't enter the museum itself, the exterior was just as captivating. The open air concept of the museum meant that many of the exhibits and displays were visible from outside.
We wandered around the grounds, taking in the rustic charm of the buildings and the beautiful scenery. Each structure was designed to reflect traditional Portuguese architecture, with stone walls blending seamlessly into the natural landscape.
One of the most enchanting aspects of the Museu da Broa is its location. Nestled in the midst of nature, the museum offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and forests.
The previous day rain had left the landscape lush and vibrant, with a fresh, invigorating scent in the air. We took a moment to soak in the beauty of our surroundings, appreciating the tranquility and serenity that enveloped us.
After exploring the exterior of the museum, we decided to embark on a hike through the nearby trails. The Museu da Broa is situated in an area rich in natural beauty, with numerous hiking paths that wind through the hills and forests. The hike provided an opportunity to connect with nature and reflect on the cultural heritage we had just glimpsed.
The trail we chose led us through dense forests and open meadows, offering stunning views at every turn. The ground was still damp from the rain, but the weather was perfect for hiking. The fresh air and the sounds of birds chirping created a peaceful ambiance. Along the way, we encountered small streams and charming wooden bridges, adding to the enchanting atmosphere.
I will make another post about this hike ๐
As we hiked, we were fortunate to spot some of the local wildlife ๐ฆ Birds flitted through the trees, their songs filling the air. We also saw a few deer grazing in the meadows, their graceful movements adding to the sense of tranquility. The hike was a wonderful way to connect with nature.
As we made our way back to our starting point, Even though we only explored the exterior, it had been an enriching experience. The museum open air concept and its integration with nature made the visit even more special.
