Hello friends of this beautiful community, today I want to talk to you about a city that recently became a UNESCO World Heritage Site but is definitely worth a visit, for those of you in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Palmanova is a military town founded in 1593 by the Republic of Venice for defensive purposes.

Palmanova is located in the province of Udine and its main feature is its nine-pointed star shape, a fortress town still in excellent condition.

Its gateways are very characteristic, with the Piazza Grande located in the centre of the fortress.

Naturally, the town passed to Napoleon, who modified it and improved its structure, and it was finally handed over to the Austrians.

In 1960 it was declared a National Monument, and many people are lucky enough to live there.

I recommend that you take the route near the ramparts, which is completely surrounded by greenery, where you will find a place to have a great lunch break and if you visit in the summer you can take refuge from the heat in the city centre.

Unfortunately, the former barracks used by the Austrians are in a state of total disrepair with no plans to develop them, and it's a pity that you can't see this beautiful city from above to see its shape.

I hope you enjoyed my little virtual tour of this beautiful historical site and the photos, if you have the chance to come to Italy you absolutely must not miss this!

Thanks for reading until next time!
