Hello, my friends, today I am back with another post about my holiday in the Veneto region of Italy, where I was lucky enough to visit some of the historic villas that are so characteristic of this region.
The historic house is located in the municipality of Vescovana in the province of Padua, right next to the famous Euganean Hills.
What struck me immediately about this villa is the beautiful garden that surrounds it, but it was only created in 1800 by Countess Evelina because she had relationships of interest with famous rulers of the time and therefore wanted to create her ideal garden by combining her travel experiences with the knowledge she had acquired from these people.
Yes, because the villa was built in 1500 by Cardinal Francesco Pisani, an important bishop of Padua who was also a Patrician of Veneto and therefore a wealthy family of the Venetian Republic, and he wanted to build this villa to become the administrative headquarters of his family.
built it near the land that his family had long ago reclaimed and made fertile for cultivation.
Today both the villa and the garden are open to the public and it is possible to visit them, also because the interiors have been frescoed by the most famous painters of the time, according to the cardinal's will.
It's a shame that the interior rooms are practically without any of the original furnishings because they were looted during the Napoleonic era.
The villa is also rented out for important events and weddings.
If I can make a small criticism of this place is the fact that in some places I found it poorly maintained and as I said before the rooms are quite bare even if in my opinion however the €10 ticket is worth it all.
What you see in the picture above is practically the back of the villa, which was never usually taken care of in the construction and can be seen very well.
In the park of the Villa's garden you will also find a Platanus, a tree about 200 years old which has practically become a monumental tree protected by the Veneto region.
I hope you have enjoyed these photos and that I have introduced you to a place that is unknown to you. I was only a little disappointed that I found the place unkempt but the caretaker explained to me that they have had financial problems due to the covid.
