These days I am on vacation on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
As I told you in my presentation, the Canary Islands are a destination that I hope in the not too distant future will become my home where I can move my residence here.
Yesterday I went to see for the first time since I came here the old capital of Tenerife which had been destroyed by a volcano and then rebuilt faithfully to the original.
As you can see from the photo there are a lot of people here in Tenerife, I didn't expect it a little, but besides the people and elderly people who live here or who often come on holiday here I met many young people.
However Garachico, this is the name of this typical Canarian town, is located on the north coast of Tenerife and can be reached easily starting from Puerto della Cruz.
The peculiarity of this place that during the volcanic eruption the inhabitants took refuge in the church of Santa Ana and the church was the only place not touched by the lava flow, and practically all the rest of the country was destroyed so people they are all saved and this event has been called The Miracle of Garachico!
Here near this town to visit there are certainly natural pools that were formed thanks to the lava flows of the volcano and created rock inlets.
However, today it is one of the most visited villages in Tenerife. I had been here several times on the island but unfortunately I had never had the opportunity to visit it.
It is nice to go inside the country because you can see these small alleys and these colorful houses, In fact I immediately noticed that compared to the classic known tourist cities of Tenerife, this village is very different and has its own prominence to the Canarian culture. In fact, there are no palaces and large hotels like in other places luckily !!
Definitely worth visiting is the Castillo de San Miguel, near the natural pools there is this beautiful castle that was built at the behest of King Felipe II this village being on an important trade route was a place of looting and possible conquests by invaders, therefore it had to be defended at all costs.
I was very satisfied with this trip because it made me discover this beautiful place in the Canaries where the local culture is still protected and I also had the opportunity to eat in an excellent Central restaurant where I saw that they prepared excellent dishes of both meat and both fish that is not lacking here at all.
Thanks to everyone who will read my post
